After a month of looking and looking I have finally decided what laptop I want. I'm looking to place my order monday because I don't see my current laptop lasting much more than a week or two. I really like the sager np8130 because it will be good for playing a lot of games (mostly mmo's) at high graphics and will be sufficient for my college school needs.

Now this is where I need your help. Currently, I have just a basic sager np8130 build. But there are a couple upgrades that i'm wondering if they are worthing getting. Is it worth getting the upgraded thermal compound on the CPU/GPU because I will be playing a lot of games and won't be able to do it myself. I was also wondering if I plan to play off of wireless a lot should I upgrade the wireless card? Additionally, should I look to go for the 95% color gamut screen or stick with the stock? I would love to get all these upgrades but it will put me over my already raised budget. I really cant spend anymore than $1,400. So what do you guys think I should do? Any input will be great, thanks!

Definitely get the screen upgrade that way your eyes are happy IMO. It shouldn't blow your budget over. If you are confident to open your laptop and apply the thermal compound yourself then go for it since it only cost ~$10 if you DIY.

Hi, if you plan on gaming a lot - it might be better to spend $40 on a cooler like the Cooler Master NotePal U3 Notebook Cooler as oppose to the IC Diamond upgrade.

Also, I would definitely upgrade the wi-fi card to one of the Intel cards or Bigfoot.

Lastly, you don't need the 95% upgraded screen - I use the stock screen on the P151HM1 (8130) everyday and it's very nice. However, if it fits in your budget - you really can't go wrong with the 95% upgrade.

    Hope that helps some. :)

We highly recommend the 95% screen, you will see many users on here attest to it. The viewing angles are much better and the colors are MUCH more vibrant! Well worth the upgrade. :)

It was worth the price when it used to be $200+. Now that the matte version is only $95, there's no reason not to get it.

Umm really? I thought all of us game a lot that why we buy a gaming notebook, do you recommend the same for me as well? I agree with Malibal, since the P151HM1 already have matte screen, it not super important to upgrade.

The machines are actually quite decent workstation replacements as well. I use my personal Lotus P150HM at home for Virtual Machines/development. For that I needed a decent processor and GPU. I rarely play any games (and they're admittedly not at all demanding).

Gaming machines tend to fill quite a lot of roles and check a lot of boxes for anyone just needing a performance machine.

I think I am just going to go with the upgraded screen. But before I do, is there a need to calibrate it? I have read that some are really red tinted and I don't think I will be able to do any calibration.

Also anyone have any idea what the ship times for xoitic or malibal would be with this setup? Any do either offer free shipping for NBR members?

    Thanks!

Most orders ship in 3-7 business days. :) There really is no need to calibrate it as it comes from Sager with good color representation.

As you will see from other posters ask us about our discounts. We have provided Free Shipping to many other NBR members. :)

Hi, we offer free shipping to NBR members, please contact us for the code. We also have a RAM Promotion (doesn't add any time to order) that can save you some money as well. You can combine the RAM Discount with Free Shipping for a savings up to $85 OFF. Also, we regularly ship the P151HM1 (8130) in 3-4 business days.

Where are you located? For California customers we can deliver notebooks in as little as one day via UPS Ground. :)

How long will you have the 95% matte screen upgrade for? I just realize you guys got it in May.

I have the 95% screen and I'm very happy with my screen. However, I do wish that I could also have a non 95% screen next to me so I can compare the difference and if the +95bucks is worth the upgrade. But from what I've been reading, you probably can't go wrong either way.

I probably wouldn't upgrade if the NP8150 has the Matte screen standard. Probably use that money for a SSD or blu-ray.

Does the 95% gamut screen have higher contrast and brightness?

No, 95% gamut just means it has more color range it can display.

Blacks are blacker, reds are redder. It is a very nice screen. Plus you get better viewing angles. I have seen both side by side and it is well worth the upgrade.
