    Hi,

I understand this is a really newbie question so 'don't flog me'. Over last few weeks i have spent time getting to know the hardware components of a computer, so i am learning.

    Three things:

    1.
I need a 4GB DDR3 1333Hz RAM upgrade for a Clevo p150hm. Is it as simple as conducting a google search and choosing one for the best price that includes a good warranty? Or, are there compatibility issues i need to address.

    2.
What does the installation process entail? The laptop already has a 4GB RAM in it, i want to add another 4GB. Is it as simple as opening the bottom of the laptop and sticking it in, or are there other things that must be done to set it up.

    3.
I'm looking at one product that says "Windows Vista Ready" on it. Is this an implication that it only works on Windows Vista, not Windows 7 which i will be using?

If it's really simple, i'll be glad i asked just in case, if not then hopefully you can provide me with the necessary information. (Please note i have been researching into this myself before i posted, but it is hard for me to gather up the information i am looking for).

    1. It really is as simple as finding laptop PC3 10600, 10660, or 10666 RAM (they're all DDR3 1333). All are compatible.

    2. If you ordered with 4GB, then two slots underneath the keyboard are currently populated with 2x 2GB sticks. You should have two empty slots under the bottom panel of the laptop. Remove the 4 screws holding it in and you should see the empty slots underneath. Seat the new RAM and put the panel back on.

    3. Windows Vista ready really doesn't mean anything. It's a marketing term. As long as the RAM is the above mentioned labels from 1), it should work.

    Excellent, that answers everything.

As a note i found this site RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, SSD at Crucial.com which lists the RAM compatibilities for just about any latop.

    Cheers.

I'm recommending Corsair CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9 it works perfectly on my Clevo P170HM. Previously I had A-Data modules and those hangs my notebook unexpectedly.

Sounds good but is it worth it to pay double the money for it?

4GB cost around the $50 mark here in Australia - Hopefully there won't be any issues with them in a Clevo. The Corsair is $100 for 4GB however.

The first time i looked i must have either seen a different Corsair 4GB - there are other models which are $100 per 4GB - or a simply an overpriced one. My apologies, i found one for $50 here in Australia.

    Thanks, i'll purchase that one.
