    Hello NBR people,

i have a Sager np8662 for 1 year now, and its time to give it some upgrades :)

and now am facing some problems, i couldn't make a choice so i believe here is the best place to get help :)

i have chosen Intel-X25 160gb because i see it's the one that fit my needs, am using my computer for browsing, gaming and other minor staffs.

as am not so experienced in these things, i've tried to read about it but that didn't help me alot, still dont know what TRIM is about, and what the 4k thing affect the performance of the SSDs.

i went to look in newegg.com and amazon.com for it but i found theres like 3 intels 160gb and dont know what the difference between them while their prices is not same too.

    so my question is:

    - is it the Intel X25-M G2 the best choice out there for a beginner user? in term of easy to use, updates, firmwares..etc

i know these's a new SSD coming late this year but i want to feel how the SSDs preform like and i could throw this 1 if i get it into other laptops i have and get the new one.

and if there's any suggestions, i appreciate to hear them :)

thanks in advance and sorry if my English bad :p

The Intel 160GB X25-M is a good SSD to choose. We have regularly used this drive and have started using allot of the 256GB Crucial C300's. You can't go wrong with either drive, both are excellent choices.

if you have the extra cash, go straight for the c300 crucial.

justin, i believe you want to write 256gb, instead of mb :)

    Intels X25-M G2 160GB.
Great performance, and only Intel SSDs support manual trim with Intel SSD Toolbox, so you can make sure the SSD retains its performance.
Do not buy a Crucial C300 - they have big problems (huge writes slow down even after a full trim on drive).

I agree with HellCry not to go with the Crucial C300. I know they fixed some of the issues with a firmware upgrade, but if you want a 256GB drive I'd recommend the Corsair P256.

    Thanks for the replies guys,

now i think am going to get the intel ssd, thanks for the suggestion about the Crucial C300 but i think 160gb is more than enough for me since i have a WD passport 1TB and i take it everywhere with me and its holding all my other staff :).

    thanks a lot all

Good choice, you'll love the Intel. They're fantastic drives; I'm actually running on one right now :)

I'm running an Intel X-25m 160GB G2 SSD in my D901C as a boot drive/apps drive. It's nothing short of amazing. I advise you to flash/upgrade the SSD's firmware before installing any OS onto it. That way, you know you won't have to worry about losing any data during a flash.

Enjoy your SSD! It's still freaky to rarely see the HDD access light when surfing the web and what not. Heck, even games I play barely make it blink, and they're stored on a mechanical drive!

Intel X25-M or OCZ Vert, all the way.
