So I own a Clevo D900F with 920 and GTX 480M. 500GB. 6GB DDR3. Is it possible to upgrade this beast more?

For CPU, What would be a good performance bump while still retaining good value? i7 975? 960? I could get a 975 ES for $400.

Is it possible to install any newer GPU in this laptop? Any hacked Bios with support for newer ATI cards? 6970M or 6990M? This would be the most desired upgrade.

Maybe add in 80GB Intel SSD.

A downgrade. I would like to downgrade the native WUXGA resolution to WSXGA+ The laptop currently has 1CCFL screen now. Do I need to get a special inverter if I wanted to add a dual lamp CCFL screen? Any recommendation for a nice WSXGA+ screen?

A good SSD will do wonders, but if you're running Windows Vista/7/other large-footprint OS then an 80GB drive will probably end up more trouble than it's worth.

To see what I mean, try booting off an 80GB partition off your current drive and installing all the stuff you normally run on your laptop, and see how much space is left.

The Clevo D900F is still a nice machine to have! However, unless you find a reworked bios, the 480M may be your best GPU choice.

Adding a SSD is most always the best way to give a bump to performance of any machine. Why not try one of the Intel 320 series SSD's? :)
