Hey, was gona buy an M570TU but then they are delayed, now im looking at buying a BAREBONE D901C and fitting it out with my own desktop processor, 2.5 HDD and ram. So basically i need a barebone.

Where is the best place i can find one? Im looking at R&J tech but 2k for just the barebone? Eurotech want 2400 inc an E8400, ram and a 200gig hdd. Is there anywhere closer i can get these? Im in japan atm (nowhere has them yet) and going back to aus onm the 13th.

I can fit this out with a standard desktop intel core2 standard pin processor cant i?

RJtech.com is one of the best places to find barebones... from the numerous NBR members that have bought from them.

There are a few Clevo vendors in Japan, but I do not think they will sell just the barebones.

all the vendors in japan dont expect to get stock of any clevo 17inch gamer notebook until the 8th next year, hence why im looking for barebones. RJtech look good and are actually quite cheap even if i buy a processor off them. I just wanna confirm also if these books use desktop processors right? E8500 etc? And what about overclocking, do the motherboards allow for CPU clocking>?

thats good, so you got it from RJTech? Howabout overclocking features? Do you just overclock the CPU with programs? Or does the bios allow for it? I have my old E8400 that i had at 4ghz at about 1.37v. but on stock volts i got 3.8. So i mean, if it allows through bios would be nice haha

no cpu over clocking. only gpu over clocking...
but the thing is...a q9550/q9650 with dual 9800m gt or gtx gpus can run circles around the competition running stock vs stock. you can how ever pin mod a q6600 and possibly a few others...(others is a very big maybe!) depending on if you can get the spec sheet to your cpu.. you can probably pin mod it to run at 1333 which would jump you quite a bit up there. but again..speculation. no one has reported doing that so i cant say for certain that it can be.

interesting, i realise Desktop cpus are quite a bit ahead of the standard lappy ones. My other option is a Dell XPS 1730 with 2x320gig and a P9500 and 2x8800GTXs, how would this compare? Similar price for me

compared to say the d900c with a E8500 and 4gig DDR800. Running general games, prob far cry 2 is a good one. Also with gernal programs. Im assuming the d900c would be faster in programs, but maybe the dell with 8800GTX x 2 will be faster in games? Would depend how CPU intesive the games are wouldnt it
