Initially, my problem was accessing www.battle.net, and I know the site is up. I was reading several forums on how to resolve the issue so I tried a few things.
1.) Turned off modem and restarted it, didn't work
2.) Changed my DNS server to OpenDNS servers, did not work
3.) Turned off all firewalls/popup blockers etc. Did not work.
4.) Restarted the computer, nope
So I had an online chat session with an Optimum Online technician(my ISP provider) and he checked and said everything on my side worked fine. Here is the chat:
Daniel: Good evening, how are you today Rohin? My name is Daniel and thank you for contacting Cablevision Technical Support rated #1 by J.D. Power and Associates. I can see your question and I know how frustrating that can be, I will be happy to assist you today. Just to double check, I can see you are having some trouble with getting to battle.net, is that correct?
Rohin: yes
Daniel: That is an excellent question and I will be more than happy to take over and help you.
Daniel: Would I be able to connect to your computer and take a look at this issue?
Rohin:yes
> Optimum Online Tech Support Specialist Daniel asked to share the customer's screen.
Daniel: Thank you very much.
> customer Rohin accepted request to share screen.
> Clipboard sent by Rohin accepted by Daniel.
Daniel: Thank you for holding Rohin.
Daniel: I ran a couple of tests and I am showing that your modem is online, your signals are ideal, and there is no packet loss to the modem.
Rohin: ok
Daniel: It looks like something on the computer could be blocking access to the website as I am able to access the website from here.
Rohin: I turned off every firewall/popup
Rohin: i also
Rohin: changed my DNS server to an opendns server
Rohin: and that didnt work
Daniel: Please hold, I want to check one more thing from here.
Rohin: ok
Daniel: Thank you for holding Rohin. So far from all my tests I do not see any issues with your modem and signals. At this point I would suggest contacting the computer manufacturer as there seems to be something on the computer that could be blocking the connection.
Rohin: could it be a DNS issue?
Daniel: It does not look like so. I pinged the website and trace routed it from my side and I get the same results as you did.
Rohin: do you use the same DNS server?
Daniel: The difference is I am able to access it. I would first contact the computer manufacturer so they can make sure nothing is blocking access to it first.
Rohin: why would one site be blocked
Daniel: I checked for any DNS issues but I do not see any posted on my side.
Rohin: and every other be ok
Daniel: It can happen and I have seen this happen on certain computers.
Rohin: ok thanks, if thats not the issue
Rohin: should i return here
Rohin: ?
Daniel: You can always contact us back if the problem persists. I would also suggest that you turn off the modem and turn it back on just in case.
Rohin: ok
Rohin: thanks
So, after this I'm on my way to www.sager.com and the SAME thing happens. I can't connect to it, just like www.battle.net. So I came to these forums hoping for some insight. Could it really be the manufacturer? I got this Sager 2092 few days ago. Does anyone know the # to call as I can't access the site. Any ideas?
-
Umm the website is actually sagernotebooks.com
Sager.com does not exist. If you can actually connect to other websites then the computer is working, as the only thing in the laptop that has to do with internet connections ans such is the wireless card / wifi.
-
thanks for the sager website tip..that works lol. Guess its just this one site then. Is there any point calling Sager about this? Seems absurd, could they really have blocked a site like the technician reckons? And yes all other websites work fine.
-
no, I seriously think the guy is screwing with you or something. The hardware, unless defunct, can not block you from sites, only the network
-

Well, it is actually www.sagernotebook.com, but when you use the plural it will redirect you.
There is nothing wrong with your laptop so calling Sager is not necessary. You just need to figure out why one website won't load. -
If your using a router might want to check router confis, or maybe they banned you from battle.net
?
-
battle.net the site is different from the service for blizzards online play.
-
-
Yeah, and I never really heard of anyone getting banned from a web site. Only of accounts getting banned and your IP address from ever creating an acount.
-
You can get banned from websites I've seen it happen
-
True. They can just ban via .htaccess for one.
-
The problem has nothing to do with the hardware of your computer. Your ISP telling you to go to sager and ask them is a lame way for him to say, I don't know.
Here is a list of things to try.
1. Go to megaproxy.com and browse to the site there. Also try ghostproxy.com, and hidemyass.com
2. Flush your DNS resolver cache. Start -> Run -> cmd (admin)-> ipconfig /flushdns
3. Try installing Peer Guardian 2. If you have PG2 running, tell it to allow HTTP.
4. Contact your ISP again.
I can understand battle.net blocking somebody, but not sagernotebooks. On the battle.net side, its possible that your IP has been blocked. But try these things and see what happens. And whatever your ISP says, its not sagers problem. Sager doesn't provide you with internet.... -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Try using a proxy like anonymouse to see if that works.
-
Emike, I tried the megaproxy and proxify.com sites. The site works fine when I use them. The peerguardian didn't work, nor did the flushdns.
Before I did this, I contacted the ISP and he said the timeout on the traceroute for that site occurs after it leaves my ISP. He said the timeout occurs when the hop reaches AT&T, so he told me to contact them. I did this few years ago and it was a huge hassle to get someone that understood my problem regarding a traceroute so I figured I'll just let it go...
Well I guess I'll just use proxify.com... I could call AT&T and get transferred 10 times to try to solve the issue, but I dont have the patience. Thanks
Actually.. the site is highly limited with the proxy sites. Sigh...oh well.
Help please..can't access 2 sites.
