"Video Card: 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce"

Can you be a little more helpful, like telling us the name of the graphic card?

What do you use your laptop to? Mostly gaming or mostly editing?

Sorry, the graphics card is a 9800GT. I use it for gaming mostly.

Then a GTX 280M will be your best graphic card, and the last card that will fit in your laptop.

For gaming, you CPU are good enough. If you do a lot of CPU intensive games (like GTA4, WiC etc), a quad core will be good. QX9300 are the best one you can get for your laptop.

The 5796 will accept a Quad?

It depends on the motherboard revision. If you look underneath the top RAM module, you will see a sticker that tells you what version you have. Mine says V3.1B. If you have V3.0B or higher and flash the latest BIOS, your notebook can accept quads.

technically, the 5796 cannot accept quads, the 5797 can. If the revision is 3.0B or above, you have a 5797.

I bought mine last August before they announced the 97's so that's probably not an option.

    Hi.
Unless you have a lot of money to spend I would suggest not to upgrade your GPU as 280 isnt much of improvement over your 9800 gt.
I would get a faster cpu (quad) and a faster hdd instead.
