    I have the 8150 with the Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300.

I am able to get the wireless radio up and running using the drivers provided on the cd that shipped with the laptop.

But the bluetooth driver installation just doesn't work. It says that required hardware is absent or not turned on. Yes, i did press Fn + F12.

BUt there is no animation at the top of the screen showing on/off status for bluetooth.

ANimations for sound, brightness, wifi -- all work.

I am quite confused. Can someone direct me ?

I think that the 6300 does not have bluetooth.

Sorry, i am a total newbie at all this. ....
    can someone explain further?

    EDIT: <groan>

    Intel® Advanced-N 6230 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module + Bluetooth ( + 25 )
    Intel® Ultimate-N 6300 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module ( + 35 )

Yeah...getting the 3rd antenna (Ultimate 6300) trades off bluetooth functionality. Took some debate for me to finally go for the bluetooth.

I got to thinking about this during my order and decided on the 6300. Small bluetooth adapters are inexpensive and so small they're almost unnoticeable. I'd rather have the best wireless range and speed. Besides, as new bluetooth revisions come out, it's easy to update the external adapters. I think you accidentally made a great decision!

Hehe okay.... In retrospect, I think i made the right (accident) too. Because i dont use any bluetooth devices at all. Just the transfer of images from my 6 year old outdated nokia phone. I have the data cable for that too anyway; just lazy to take it out of the box.

I just go so used to most HP, dell and thinkpads coming with bluetooth out of the box, that I didn't think to see if it came default with the Wifi cards on the sager
