Hey guys. I just got my NP9170 in the mail, yesterday. I downloaded MSI Afterburner but I'm having a difficult time figuring out how it works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. You do know you can download the XTU software from Intel to OC your CPU right?

    2. It's fairly easy. Anything special you want to know?
You can read about it HERE

Thanks so much for your reply. Would you recommend XTU over Afterburner?

Oh don't confuse these two things :)

The Intel XTU software is for the CPU, for your 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3720QM Processor!
+ You can also install the latest ThrottleStop made by unclewebb, it should support Ivy Bridge
    - The program LOCKS the CPU at maximum speed, so it won't downclock to save power making the machine slightly slower when not needed :)

And MSI Afterburner is for your GPU the AMD Radeon HD 7970M GPU with 2GB GDDR5 Video Memory ;)

btw you are welcome, do ask if you want more information

Install HWiNFO64, so you always know what your temps are... don't want to put too much pressure on your new laptop :p

Hey Man. I've been trying to get MSI Afterburner to work but I don't know if it's doing anything or not? The only bars I can move are my "Core Clock" and "Memory Clock." Is that normal? And also, it doesn't say my driver at the top. It just says my AMD Radeon HD 7970. Should it be like that? Sorry for bothering.

If i remember correctly, the AMD 7970 is currently not supported by MSI Afterburner that's why you don't see the driver at the top. However there are a few tricks that you can do to get it to work. Take a look at the alienware section some guy wrote a step by step guide. Otherwise you just have to wait for the next update of the MSI afterburner :)

    I hope this helps
