What exactly is taking so long (well the longest)? POST, any dual boot, before vista user menu, or once into your user profile?
-
well its the microsoft vista loading screen so in terms of bar that cycles during loading which never used to go beyond 7-8 now going over 30+ yes i counted them hehe
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Try Bootvis from microsoft.
-
i dont believe bootvis is available for vista i searched but couldnt find one
thanks though please help me guys -
I'm not sure about the rest of it but I would recommend Avast! over AVG. I used AVG for years, but the last version I used slowed my boot times enough to give me flashback or Norton Antivirus and it's resource hogging skills. I've had no problems at all with Avast!.
Ignore the Professional version and grab the free version

thx that did actully helped lot
but any other tips that can improve the bootup
-
Well it could be alot of stuff so just go clean the most you can..
-Run CCleaner
-Defrag your hdd
-Complete AV scan (I think you did that already)
-Check the startup programs and processes. Try and get rid of unused ones.
Now boot up without anything in the cdrom drive or in usb. Hope that helps. -
Check the boot up priority order in the Bios to make sure it isn't searching for unnecessary devices before it boots from the primary drive.
-
tip: don't run an antivirus, most behave like viruses themselves. The best antivirus is YOU.

yup also thanks guys , rite about the thing YOU being the best antivirus i was just talking along those line about it with my buddy good to know someone share the same ideas hehe -
What I do is to be careful, make sure I have a clean system, check the Registry run keys every now and then and I do Antivirus scans of mounted drive images of my laptop. So after I have done a complete Drive Snapshot of my entire laptop hard disk contents, I will mount that image on my desktop and do a full Antivirus scan. -
another question i mentioned before gthat i have not updated my bios since i got the pc and its almost 10 months old so should i update my bios or leave it as it is cause i wont b upgrading my processor netime soon... -
Regarding the Bios, I haven't updated mine either and tend to leave that alone unless updating will fix a specific problem. If I knew an updated Bios would improve something for sure then I might consider it.
