OK. So in the interested of getting my 2090 faster I made a concession, 1X 1GB Ram. Idea being that I would simply stick a 2 GB stick in as well when it showed up, or a 1 GB if I decided to save money.

I'd like some recommendations, brands, nothing too crazy expensive. If anyone knows how difficult easy or a guide for installation in this model (Understanding there aren't many out but...), that would be helpful. Also, should I get one with one of these heat spreaders attached? Seems like a good idea in theory but I've heard of instances when they won't fit in the notebook?

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

From what I hear, the Sager NP2090 is pretty easy to upgrade the RAM, it's just a small panel fastened by a screw. I'm not sure if you can attach RAM with heat spreaders in a laptop, but if you can, share your experiences with us.

I'm looking at prices on new egg and they've got some good deals on non-heatspread sticks of 2 gig... i think I'm going to opt for one of those. Won't order until I start hearing about some of our notebooks getting shipped out though.

I got a 2 gig OCZ stick from frys for $85 after finding it in the Hot RAM deals listed here

Its a piece of cake to install RAM, takes longer to open the door up with the screwdriver. You will be looking for ddr2-667 pc2 5300/5400 ram at 667mhz

Looks like the RAM I got is back in stock now too, I ordered on the 2nd of July and even with the 4th holiday I had it on the 6th

I wonder what Sager puts in their laptops as their 1 x 2GB sticks, I want to get the same exact stick if only for just consistency.

No, I'm waiting for my notebook yet :) But that is the ram that it takes. Others have added ram into their Sager already, flippoet for example. Maybe one can add some info if they run across this thread.

Be careful to order 200 pin SODIMMs of DDR2/667MHz memory, or else you might be ordering desktop memory that won't work.

all good advice. Thanks everyone. Don't want to order the RAM too soon though. I think having it sitting there with no laptop to stick it in is going to be about the worst kind of torture.

Yes :) The good news is anyone attempting to put desktop memory in will know it won't fit once they get the machine open, the bad news is you can either return it at that point or make it into a keychain....

A few years back I was in the local pc store and they had those old SIMM chips in a basket by the register, and they were drilled and fashioned into a keychain fob.... I didnt buy one but I remember :)

There are new cheap deals for ram everyday, this site finds them and passes it on to you. They had a 1gb notebook ram for 10$ after rebate, and it was compatible with the 2090.
