Hey. I want to find out if I am in need of flashing / upgrading BIOS for my m860tu.

The 9800m GT just died and I have decided to buy the fx 2700.
    NVIDIA FX 2700M MXM 2.1 TYPE III/HE - ALIENWARE M15X ***REDUCED*** | eBay

According to this webpage it comes as a standard choice. Which would perhaps incline that a BIOS update is not necessary since it corresponds more to the 9700 GT model I think.

However my M860tu is from 2008 and is probably from the first serie.

Any help would be much appriceted. Thanks.

Here is my current BIOS info.
    BIOS revision 1.00.05
    Firmware revision 1.00.04

    VGA card
    BIOS revision 62.92.34.00.1B
    BIOS Build Date 06/24/08

so do you think I need to upgrade my BIOS when I get my new card ( posted above) and if so. ( noob question ) How do I do that?

    Thanks again^^

You should be ok with it. At the most you would need to update the BIOS/EC which isn't that big a deal. If you have a sager branded laptop just get it from them, else hit the BIOS thread (old models) to get the latest. But you should be good. (Keyword is should) =)
