So i'm considering getting a new sager np8250, yet I've decided that it would be a bit less expensive if I were to buy my own OS and seperate SSD. I was just wondering how difficult it would be to install this SSD and how I would go on to turning it into the C drive? Sorry I'm not very technologically savvy so I'm not too sure how complicated this would become. Also, once installed are there drivers I would have to install, and where would i get said drivers, will sager deliver them on a cd with the laptop?

Thanks for any help and sorry if I sound a little foolish!

Edit: I was also planning on getting windows 7 rather then 8, I don't know if this would cause issues as well.

    No worries :)

It's really easy and actually what I did as well. To install the SSD you just unscrew the front bottom panel and slide it in. I'm not sure how the ports are on the newer models but on the P150EM one port is SATA3 (this is where you want your SSD) and the CD drive port is SATA2 (where you would want an old hard disk).

I bought through XoticPC and they shipped a driver's CD and I ordered without an OS so I just downloaded an ISO from a microsoft site for Windows 7 and put it onto a flashdrive. Then I used the flashdrive to install Windows on the SSD.

    Here's a great disassembly guide:

(make sure to match the version of windows 7 with the key you have)

Awesome, thank you! Did you have to change the boot order of the SSD and HDD?

Since you wont have an OS preinstalled you wont have to worry about reassigning it to be the C: drive, it should set that up as you install the OS.
You maybe have to change the boot order but if there is no OS on the HDD is should look to the SSD next anyway.

Actually the thing I like about the Sager vs my old Asus is that you can directly boot to whatever drive you'd like from the BIOS. You can access the BIOS by pressing F2 when you start up. There's also another key to directly access the boot menu.. I think it's F8 but I can't remember.

After you install Windows the bootmgr will automatically set the boot drive for you.

Edit: Sorry I mis-read your question. You shouldn't need to change anything. As long as you install Windows on your SSD you'll be good to go :)

While we're on the topic, what is the process like when the hard drive already contains an OS? Will it be fairly clean or is this problematic in some way? I have an SSD w/ Windows that I'd like to put into a new Sager laptop.

I believe all you'll need is to re-arrange the boot order in the BIOS and you'll be good to go and it shouldn't cause any problems.

Does PH0 mean anything? I bought a cheap set and the PH0 Philips works on nearly everything on this laptop.

I haven't tried to disassemble any of the heatsinks or anything though. Those look to be a little smaller.

You may have to reactivate Windows as it will see a drastic hardware change. If you still have the key then its as easy as entering it again.
