After the nightmare of my dell experiance i've decided to go with my first plan and get a np9261.
But while i wait for dell to refund me my cash I would like some help in deciding my spec and your thoughts on these points.
First processor from what i understand there are currently no ways to over clock the cpu on a np9261 because of this i see no reason to go with an extreme processor. Leaving me with the quad 2.4ghz or duo 3ghz.
Graphics the 7950 v 8700 debate goes on and from what i have seen the 8700 seems to be getting some good benchmarks in vista now, so unless there are some current problems i am not aware of i feel sli 8700 would be the way to go.
Finally operating system xp or vista, 32 or 64 this is where i need the most help. I'm thinking vista cos i like the idea of dx10 and i feel that i will improve over time. I have heard of a few probs with 64bit system and games crashing and feel that the extra gain i may get is not worth this.
If anyone has any more advice about what to go for please feel free to post.

I'd pick the Quad Core, since it's more future proof.
8700M is a DX10 card. If you want to play DX10 games get the 8700M.
I know that Sager has x64 drivers, so this will not be a problem. Games don't crash because of the operating system. There aren't any driver problems with x64 using Sager notebooks (from what I can tell, since they have all the drivers in both x86 and x64). -

i must agree with fade thats what i did, i also went one step further with the "Q6700" it was alot more money but i felt that if im going to do it ill do it RIGHT i tried to put the best in there. do it once, set it and forget it. that just me tho
i went with the 2x 8700's sli for that same reasons and if u read some of the scores ppls are getting with it? it should make u smile
i put in 2x 160GB Seagate Momentus 3GB/S SA in RAID 0 again for the NEED for SPEED!!!!!
vista 64 sp1 is out in bata so they are tring to fix all issues
i dont know of anyone thats not happy with there new sager/clevo system
good luck -

I would recommend waiting until the end of November to order and see if any new GPUs come out. I have noted that one or two notebook retailers on this forum have said something is going to happen in November.
Definitely get the quad-core; as more games come out with multi-CPU support it will do nothing but help your performance. I have a quad-core in my desktop and it is awesome. So much power I don't know what to do with it.
Every single Vista system I have used has had numerous issues. I personally can't stand Vista. Get XP - not only will your gaming performance be better but your system will also be more stable and faster overall. I'd have to recommend the dual Go7950's over the dual 8700M-GTs because they are significantly more powerful. DirectX 10 does not offer anything noticeable over DirectX 9 in my opinion except for . . . a performance drop.
So - quad-core, XP, and dual Go7950s is my recommendation. -

I would recomend going with the quad core either q6600 or the q6700 will be more than you can use for a while. I chose the 6700 because I did not expect to be able to overclock anything and so far I am right. But if you don't have the money or dont want to spend it the benchmarks for the 6600 are good. I went with the 8700M's after a lot of research. Right now with the latest driver's I am over 9k in 3Dmark 06. As for game play I have not yet found anything that doesn't play comfortable at 19x12. I chose the 8700M because it was a DX10 card and it was the best in its class. Ok so it is not as fast as the 7950 but the 7950 won't do DX10 either it is a trade off. Also if you are considering upgrading to the "8800M" or what ever it will be called some time next early next year the 8700M is cheaper by about 200$. It is a tough choice so far I am very happy with mine.
