You re probably running it in power savings mode, you should be getting 2x that score
-
checked that twice... not in silent mode

Try getting a new set of NVIDIA drivers from Laptopvideo2go.com. It sounds like a driver problem since you said that Windows reports your 9800m GT as a "Standard VGA graphics adapter."

i will try that out.
windows (through display settings) reports it a a 9800 gt, but 3dmarks deosn't -

make sure the power cable is plugged in tight. when i ran 3dmark with the notebook unplugged, even with high performance mode, i got a very similar score.

I got the same score after I had played around with silent mode and even when I turned silent mode off it still showed a low score. I had to reboot to get back to a normal 9400 score. This might need a bios update or something cause it seems that silent mode once active does not go away till reboot?
