    Hello All;
I can't boot the 9262 since today morning. The only thing is that I tried a system encryption with True Crypt for windows installation.

I went on with choosing AES encryption.I burned the rescue file image file to a CD and TC verified it saying it was good and then said some checks has to be done before encryption and the computer will restart after that.It shutdown instead of restarting and I haven't been able to boot it since.

I tried booting without HDD,DVD,no USB devices,RAM etc and all it does is blink for a second and stops.

    Any suggestions?

    hmmm..

so after removing all non-essential hardware:
    - notebook's large battery
    - HDD(s)
    - Optical Drive
    - mini-PCIe cards (Wifi and/or tv tuner)

which leaves CPU, RAM, and videocards

    ...it still does not POST?

Then I would reseat the CPU, RAM, and videocard modules next.

Reseated CPU,RAM,GPU.Switched 2 RAM modules one by one at each slots.

Still no joy.Could TC have fried the processor?I don't have a spare one to try.

All lights come up for about 2 secs as normal boot and then goes off. Then a sec later the blue light at power button comes and then nothing.
PS:True crypt is a software to encrypt drives.

    :( :(

Is this, by any chance, the trusted computing module that Intel's been toying around with for a bit?

EDIT: Wow, I love it when I can answer my own questions - hey, Shyster1, doofus, no, that's True Crypt, not trusted computing!

I don't know what else to do.Even if it had destroyed the HDD atleast the BIOS screen should have come up at POST.

NBR rules restricts us from publicly discussing the process for overriding security measures... which can be gained from this.

Can you get into the BIOS configuration page to make sure that the system is still set to boot from CD/DVD first?

Initially even the BIOS config page wouldn't appear. Before something came out it shutdown by itself.I removed CPU,GPU and RAM and the result was same.So I knoew it was a BIOS problem and decided to reset it.

Finding CMOS battery was hard. After about 8 straight hours of working on this,I managed to fix it by BIOS reset. No more system encryption for me.

Thanks for all those who helped.Rep'd.

    glad to hear it. :)

I recommend in the future to encrypt the important files/folders on the HDD... rather than the entire HDD itself. ;)

Good work; I was trying to fish around in that direction, but didn't quite make it there.

Glad everything's back to (pseudo) normal! :D

speaking of encryption, while this thread is still up, i had a few questions. So, encryption means ONLY your computer can read the file correct? What happens if you drag this file to an external HDD or another computer. And what if you wanted to password soemthing? is there any other way to do so without like rar.ing it and passwording the rar?

I actually use a couple of different encryptions that can be opened with a password... so it wont matter where ever you copy it to as long as you know the password to open and edit it.

Thanks. It was hard till it got fixed :)

Any one with this problem on how to fix it :)

If you USE TC,you can make a file container which will mount as a drive. If cyou copy the container as whole you would need the password where ever you open it from.Try the software from www.truecrypt.org
