I've been lurking around these forums for a while although I just signed up now to share the good news :)

I decided to go with the lower resolution display for gaming purposes. I figured it would be adequate for a native 17inch display and increase performance while in games. I also decided against the quad cores after carefully researching.

    Here is my invoice setup:

    lol, HOW!? (pun intended...)

    but...
Yeah.... I'm definitely aware of the enormous size and weight that this packs. I was thinking of the alienware m15x due to being more portable. There's just way too much bang for your buck when you go with Sager, though.

I see lots of people complain about the size of this model, and the fact that it may not be practical to use on one's lap. However, i'd rather have a 15lbs slab of machinery on my lap that stays relatively cool(~70cel) than a 8lb lump of scorching metal.

When I say "scorching metal" I refer to laptops with poor cooling systems (which seem to have been reported by most manufacturers' clients sans Sager).

The reality is: any machine that's plugged in to the wall with a 8800 in it is a desktop replacement. Packing high-powered components into a smaller chassis will not change this fact.... it will only cause system failure, overheating, and ultimately lead to physical discomfort.

    (so I rationalize...)

    :)

    Thanks for the welcome :)

yeah, well all laptops will get *warm* on your lap... especially in the region that your body is constantly pressed against. I always use a textbook or tray of some sort on my lap so the vents aren't blocked by fabric, environment, and healthy 98degree F body temps.

For those pirates out there: a peg leg may come in handy :)!

It came out wrong lol :D

Gaming laptops have usually more than one fan, so chances are you`ll be blocking some of them if you keep it on the lap.
