Hi all, I was wondering what kind of temps you guys get on your sager NP5791 laptops (Nvidia 8700 GT)

I just recently replaced the fan on the GPU cuz it broke, and now im paranoid that the temp is higher. IM idling at 54 to 55 degrees celcius. is that normal? and now, my GPU fan is on constantly, it never shuts off like it did before. :( please give some feedback guys.

hey X2P thanks for the feedback, I kinda noticed ur part of the NBR cooling team :) But I got an answer from another user saying that my idle temps are too high, he said he gets around 30ish deg Celsius idling on his 7950 GTX. I even have the Zalman NC1000 but it does absolutely nothing to cool my laptop, with or without it, my temps are the same -___-" great waste of 50 bucks if u ask me.

The Zalman notebook coolers don't exactly fit the NP579x. They don't hit the GPU fan; this explains why it doesn't help your GPU temperature go down.

But about your temperatures, they're fine. The danger zone for a GPU starts at about 80°, so to be safe, you have to be, let's say, below 75° or something. But whether it is 30° or 55° that doesn't really matter. Anything below 75° is fine.
How much are they under load, though?

I thought the Zalman NC2000 coolers were praised along NP579x users on this forum??

    A cooler is meant to:
    - have a safe and trusted surface to use for a notebook
    - to give an ergonomic tilt, which also helps with cooling
    - to give airflow to the bottom with filters.

depending on the notebook design itself (the bottom of the chassis) and the environment (ambient temperature, AC room, etc..)....
    ... the results would vary.

They do a decent job at lowering the CPU temps, but they don't do much to cool the GPU. So it doesn't work to its full potential.

50c+ just idling for the GPU doesn’t sound right, I don’t believe I get that playing CoD 4 for an hour. Actually, it does reach 57c. I don’t have the fan toggle thing, so pressing FN + 1 or 3 does nothing for me. I do however know the fans are not running at high during playing, because they toggle every now and then, and you would notice if the fans were running at high. When not gaming, I don’t even know I have any unless they do toggle to medium within the hour of using the notebook. Sometimes, I get the feeling that Clevo is using different parts for their notebooks. To use an additional cooler seems overkill to me, but it seems as some of us need it. And that’s why I feel there is something different with some parts of the notebook that should be the same.

Do remember, the ambient temperature also affects the temperature inside the notebook. So if it’s hot where you’re using the notebook, then you can expect a higher temperature inside the notebook. It’s not like its cold in my room, but it is a comfortable 75.
