Higher brightness?

Is it possible to get an higher brightness?

I'm sitting outside in the shaduw and everything is good readable but it could be better...

Is there a program that is able to rise the brightness? I think there has to be something because you can get a higher brightness in games so...

There is no way to increase the brightness since that is panel related. If the screen cannot output more brightness,then it`s as far as it will go.
However, you can increase the apparent brightness , from the nvidia control panel or desktop manager.

Well, you can change your color brightness in the nVidia control panel, but under normal conditions this looks like crap- maybe outdoors is another story... try raising brightness and lowering gamma.

Google PowerStrip. It allows you to set brightness and darkness over what your computer by default allows.

 

... IF you run Winduhs, that is. And IF you use that-search-engine-that-everybody-uses, instead of the more advanced Clusty.

 

Other than the cluster results, Google can do all of that. And more.

 

imo the panel in the 5793 NEEDS to be brighter. its not a bad panel but i currently am using a auo screen in mine that i installed and its way brighter then the lg is. im waiting on another model to test out but imo i think ill be keeping this one for a while if the other one coming doesnt stack up.. i can say the lg has a bit .. just a tiny bit better color than the auo but very little.. and after calibration its not really noticable at all..

 

Actually Clusty is way more advanced. It is a met4 (m3ta) (forum thinks that word is a cuss-word for some reason) search-engine, which sends the query to many other search engines, compiles the results, eliminates dupes, and prioritizes so that you almost always Find on the first page. It's more of a 'Find" engine. Also it has old-page cache like that other one, site: searches, newsgroups searches, and all the other searches commonly available, except met4-ized.

Plus Clusty has an actual effective privacy policy, as opposed to that-other-search-engine-that-everyone-uses' atrocious policy of retaining every search, associated with your IP, forever! That is intolerable AFAIC, and in fact contravenes many nations' data retention laws.

I have used Clusty for several years, and it has almost always found more useful hits than that other one. But feel free to use that corporatized data-mining one.

 

Google is the first thing that comes up as I open firefox. I see no problem with using it. I'm not a terrorist. I have nothing deadly to hide.

 

You don't mind that they collect info on everything you search? An amazingly accurate portrait of you can be assembled after only a couple months' searches, and how many years have you used g00gle?.

Not a terrorist, but are you sure you have paid for all that software you have? Ever checked out pr0n which you wouldn't want someone to know about? Ever d/led an mp3? Ever made an anti-war remark? These are all reflected in your searches. If nothing else you are certainly profiled in marketing data which is kept forever. It's difficult for the average person to really appreciate what that means.

You can change your default homepage in Mozilla settings.

All this to get the brightness up, sheesh
Gama and the Nvidia Panel Brightness just add a foggish look to everything.
But if it helps, who cares what the reasoning behind it is?
