As I stated in a different hinge thread, I have new hinge set and an LCD cable coming to replace my broken hinge and pinched cable.

I don't trust the local PC shop as they couldn't even figure out where to get parts for my 5750(M57U). The parts search took me all of 10 minutes.

How hard or how easy is it to replace the hinges? I am very skilled with my hands, but don't know what parts will simply screw apart or what is snapped together and don't want to pry anything that should not be pried.

One guy I called said "yeah I can do that, it will take 3 hours and cost 200-300". F**k that.

Have you tried to find a disassembly guide online?
afaik my NP2090 seems pretty straightforward to take apart, given the guide. I've never disassembled it before, though, so I can't speak for you.

That's because you need WinRAR to open it. You can get a 15-day free trial at www.rarlab.com.

I too have paid for a license, although at the time I was aware that it would nonetheless continue to work. I wouldn't call it getting suckered, or even helping a good cause (although, to be fair, that gets closer to it) but rather paying someone an honest price for the benefit s/he's bestowed on you by taking the time to write a piece of software that does something you find useful. You're acting fairly and honorably, and in the best of the free-market tradition.
