    I finally got the hotkey program to work but the backlit doesn't turn on? the hotkey program now opens but if I hit FN + the button to turn it on/off or turn the brightness up/down nothing happens, my keyboard remains unlit :(

    edit: just to give more info, the hotkey program reflects if I've hit the on/off keyboard backlight key but the light never turns on no matter how many times I press the increase keyboard backlight key

    You might have a corrupted .net. You can always try reinstalling.
    go to event viewer-->applications
    there are 2 logs there:
    PowerBiosServerLog
    Outlog
    Do you see any weird messages there?They won't be classified as "error" level.
    Also make sure the PoweBios service is running.

    Well that certainly doesn't sound good. Perhaps the keyboard LEDs are faulty - or the power source from the board to them is.

    I'm hoping that isn't the problem but if it is I'm not sure I care enough to do a RMA on it

    I had to use 8.0114, ran into the original problem this thread was created for with all the other versions

    Depending on where you got the computer from you may be able to just have a new keyboard sent to you.

    on the topic of the keyboard, why does it have two "\" keys? I'm not sure why someone thought that key was important enough to get a second one right by the space bar...

    also I noticed that Windows treats the Windows key as if it was a right windows key on keyboards that have two instead of the left/main windows key despite the fact the keyboard only has the one windows key :confused:

    :err:

    What function is it performing? (For whatever it's worth, CTRL + ESC do the same as the Windows key).

    I noticed this too and it seems silly and like poor QC if you ask me. They could have put the right mouse click like most keyboards have in between the alt and FN keys.
