Hey guys. I've recently been playing Crysis 2 on my NP9170. I downloaded the high res texture pack and the Direct X 11 update and I'm able to play on all Ultra settings with very minimal frame drop. The only time I get any noticeable frame drop is when a really hectic scene is going on. So I went to my MSI Afterburner and bumped my Memory Clock from 1400 to around 1475 and Core Clock from 1000 to around 1025. I applied the settings and went back to Crysis to see if it helped a little. I started playing and then my screen froze and I got a blue screen. Should I just not have clocked that high or should that not have happened? Has anyone found a sweet spot for their 7970 that won't have any issues? Thanks so much for any help :]

What was your GPU MAX % in Afterburner?

i am playing crysis2 too. currently my setting is 1030/1560. i set 1060 core initially but got the same problem as you. i just made small adjustment after got freeze and blue screen each time

No, don't be sorry at all. Again, I think these drivers are a little hit or miss right now. If you are pushing your card to the MAX (like with crysis 2) the percentage should be around 90+.

That probably was caused by the overclock. Easiest way to tell is to knock it back down to was it was and see if the bluescreens happen again.

How did you get Afterburner to recognize the 7970M properly? All the OC options are greyed out for me, though it does show temperature and load.

That sounds about right. Your frozen screens are due to the overclocking, not exactly sure what your voltages should be set for your OC, maybe other people can chime in on that. How hot does your GPU get with your settings?
