So, with a Deathadder (& Mat) on the way and the decisions on an OS and a laptop cooler made my final thing to bring in is a new case or backpack to lug the new notebook around in.

So far, there hasn't been a decision on whether to get a backpack or a carry case though Pakuma is the brand I've come closest to picking. My only experiences so far are with a targus bag which scratched up the paint work of an Acer Aspire, something I'm trying to avoid repeating again. Style isn't the biggest importance but I don't want to spend the equivalent to $100+ on it. Just something sturdy, that isn't going to break because of the heavy weight or because it gets used quite a bit.

So can any of you suggest your preferred case or bag for your laptop and why you like it? This particularly goes for anyone with an M860TU!

backpack.. i just throw it in my backpack it has a pouch that it fits nicely in... no special padding or anything but its easy to carry... usually don't put books in there when my laptop is with me either.

    I use this : http://www.ideastreamproducts.com/vaultz/Laptop.html

I didn't wanted to compromise my investment (it's 2500 of your bucks !)

the picture is showing a small laptop but it's adjustable: i got space tu put my 17'' and there a 1½ po spacing on which I put a pad that come with the case to prevent it from moving.

I also put my power brick and all necc. wires, my mouse and there's still space for an extenal hdd + power adaptor and for crap like usb key, cds etc...

Light and solid, wouln't use anything else

Surely carrying such a thing attracts more attention than you'd want. It looks like it should be carrying diamonds, or a some top secret formula and it looks like it costs more than the notebook would!

You don't handcuff yourself to it do? :p

Check out Tom Bihn's stuff (tombihn dot com)

Ive had far too many mishaps with my bag toppling over and with over 200k miles traveled for work annually, my laptop has always been completely protected and without a scratch!

    Matias Armor Case
    http://www.matias.ca/laptoparmor/index.php
I recommend this as opposed to the Vaultz laptop case just for it's more compact design and cushy laptop padding inside.
Pretty solid unit at not a bad price....watch the video of them dropping a laptop from 10 feet onto concrete.
But if you have alot of junk maybe the Matias is not the answer, it's got a bit of room for the essentials but not if you're packing 2 externals and gaming mouse and other huge crap.

Although I Don't have a M860TU, I got a nice notebook carying case with my notebook :) That is the least they could do considering the price range of these beasts.
