I'm planning to get a P150EM eventually. If I had to buy now. I'm looking at the fololowing. What do you think? Use will be gaming (mainly StarCraft II and Battlefield 3), Autodesk Inventor, MATLAB, then the usual music, internet, and word processesing. I really don't use much memory as far as harddrive space is concerned. I am using 140GB right now on my laptop after 4 years of owning it. Plus I have an external 250GB. As for gaming, top of the line performance isn't really necessary. As long as I can run med/high at 1080p I'll be happy. I want this laptop to last me over 5 years. Considering my current config is still serving me well (in sig) I'm sure that is completely plausible.
P150EM:
-Matte Display (not 95% Gamut)
-i7-3610QM (I would love to get the 3720 since it is 300MHz faster and the Intel HD 4000 graphics are even faster at max clock but I bet the 3610 will last me years to come just fine.)
-GTX 670M (I haven't committed on a purchase because I'm waiting on the 660M, however, I'd be inclined to get a 675M if a 660M never becomes available)
-8GB 1600MHz (What CL is the RAM?)
-8X DVD Burner/Reader (I wouldn't mind a Blu-Ray reader for movies, but I don't think I'd really watch them anyway)
-No Branding
-Intel 520 SSD (either the 180 or 240GB)
-Intel Ultimate-N 6300
-Windows 7 Pro
I'm thinking of getting it from XoticPC. Thoughts? Do you know if I am able to get a 120W AC adapter instead of 180W if I stick the the 670M or lower considering that is what the P151EM1 uses? I'd rather have a smaller brick and don't intend to OC.

About the display, I would advice getting a Gamut, it's beautiful especially when watching movies.
The i7-3610QM is more than enough. It's a matter of small speeds.
Regarding the RAM, I cannot say for sure as I do not what kind of RAM brand we are talking about, but look here: CAS latency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
About the adapter, I cannot tell
++ Overall the build seems solid, all the luck to you when you buy it! -
That's a very nice build mate
wish you many years of fun usage with it. I might go with one P150EM also for the wife since I already have the P170EM.

On the bright side - please man, choose AMD! The 7970m is WORTH IT! This will future proof you way more than any CPU you choose from the Ivy line. Way more.
P.S. Instead of Intel 520 180-240gb SSD, pick a 120gb one and invest in a video card! AMD has overstepped the boundaries of mobile GPUs this year and they released alien tech for customers who want to game hard on their laptops! -
I can't agree more with b0b1man. Intel SSD seem too pricey.

If you're not planning on upgrading the GPU beyond a 670M and the other differences between the P150EM and the P151EM aren't important to you (the P150EM has a backlit keyboard, rubberized finish, and a larger power supply), you could consider getting the P151EM to save a bit of money. If you do get the P150EM, as others have said, there is no reason not to upgrade it to the 675M or 7970M.
How about this for a P150EM build?
