I know the specs for the computers are fantastic. The NP9280 in particular is top of the freaking line.

That said, how stable are they? And how is Sager in general when it comes to customer and technical support? I purchased an Alienware two years ago and had a bad experience with it, so I know better now than to buy a computer purely based on the specifications.

Sager has been around for very very long. They have become the largest Clevo vendor/distributor in the world... the largest in North America.

They have grown so large that they knew that they could not handle the full load of so many customers without expanding.... which is why you will find Sager "resellers"

those are vendors that act as the front end to Sager's large business... they are legendary in their service/support, as well as competitive pricing and free extra's (like extra warranty included in starting prices)

so if you want a Sager, you can still get it directly from Sager, but you will get more for your money by going through one of those Sager resellers.

and read the Clevo Guide if you havent yet.

Thanks. Right now I'm thinking I might get it through xoticpcs. They seem to keep their prices very competitive.

You can see through the Sager and Clevo board here that there aren't any truly unsolved horror stories. You shouldn't have any severe problems. I've never had any horrible mishaps. And in the unlikely event that you do, most people on this board are quite helpful. Go for the Sager!!

I am very happy with Xoticpc! I had ordered an Alienware box and a couple days after I ordered it they discontinued the model. Then the progress stopped at "phase 6" which was installing OS and drivers. It stayed there for a few days as the supposed shipping date came and went. Finally I called them and they could not tell me what the problem was so I canceled the order. I then ordered a Sager NP9280 with much higher specs at a lower price. It shipped about ten days later and it arrived in two days.
This thing is not a small lightweight portable, its a desktop replacement and does that job very well. Its gotta weigh twenty pounds so im just glad that its only movement will be from room to room. for anyone interested the specs are:
    17" WUXGA screen (1920x1200)
Intel Core i7 Quad Extreme (Nehalem) 975 3.33GHz
    6,144MB DDR3 1066MHz Memory
    nVidia GeForce GTX 280M 1,024MB DDR3
160GB Intel X25-M Solid State Drive
    500GB 7200RPM (x2) = almost 1tb storage
2X Blu-Ray Read/8X DVDRW Super Multi Combo Drive
    Card reader, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc.

Well you can see why it weighs a lot and you can also see it cost me a nice chunk of change. I am very happy with Xoticpc and Sager and will certainly order from them again if/when I am in the market for another laptop.
I think ill take my quad core, dual 8800GTX desktop apart and build an entertainment center pc with the parts.

I just wanted to pass on my great experience with Xoticpc. I couldnt be happier with the company and their product.

XoticPC's customer service is great, although I cant say the same for Sager's technical support. Once I emailed them about the NP8660's keyboard not recognizing simultaneous pressing of A and another key which I forgot. It took them a month to reply, by then I'd figured that it was the keyboard matrix layout and not the bios causing the problem, nothing I could do then, unable to play DMC 4 without an external keyboard since I like manual control.

I've been ordering mine since quite some time ago from powernotebooks.com and they have undeniably the best service ever. I hear xoticpc is good as well, but since I went with powernotebooks.com for awhile, I go with powernotebooks. They know how to do business, really. Compare that to, say..., Dell
