So after the new sandy bridge mobos come in I'm going to buy a new laptop. I've done a pretty good job of looking around to get the best price. Which leads to somewhat of a potential problem. The lowest price for the laptop I want is Xtremegear ( http://www.buyxg.com). Their forums are dead, and I think their customer support is too. The only faith I have in them is that they pulled the SB laptops after I contacted them (no reply btw), and I believe they are run by cyberpower..
Anyways if something goes wrong that I cant fix, (IE something expensive straight up dies) I'd probably need to deal directly with sager..
I know customer support and a reseller warranty (xg gives 1 year, guessing its from sager) are important but the price difference is rather large. And i'll post the system specs/price if any reseller wants to see if they can match it, as I'd gladly rather place my order with a company who actually talks to the customer.

It sounds like you have answered your own question. If like you said, their customer support is dead, and they aren't replying to your emails to make a sale, I think you can pretty much draw your own conclusions.
You can trying contacting the other resellers directly to get quotes. Most of their published prices are quite competitive, so I am not sure how large the price difference truly. IMO, the total cost of owning the laptop, of which purchase price is only a component, should be your main concern. -
I didn't make a sales question but sent them an email saying they should probably take down their SB laptops, or inform the costumer it was going to be a preorder. Maybe they thought it was rude or didnt need a response. Anyways I just shot them an email, to see if they do reply.
And I would go back to getting price quotes through emails, but since XG did take down the affected laptops I cant really expect people to price match against a laptop that isnt for sale till the intel fixes. I do have the shopping cart with specs and price saved as an image, but I cant go around throwing that into emails, can I. -

^^ What he said. You don't need to send them a saved image
Also, I might be wrong, but the impression I get from the resellers here is that most of them would probably thank you for pointing out the SB issue. That is, if they aren't already aware of it, in which case, I think that should probably raise some red flags as well. -
From my experience I can definitely vouch for MALIBAL, they were always ready to answer my questions and offer me the best deals. I am sure many others will vouch for the vast amount of retailers who post here as they are all great as well.

I was thinking of getting a sager over an alienware, but the warranty is what is holding me from buying it.

If your stuff breaks and you have to RMA it to a dell repair outlset, you are probably losing a laptop for anywhere from 2 weeks to...2 months. -
Hey we would also be happy to give you a quote, just PM us if you would like.

When you contact Sager as a customer via email or phone and if they are busy they should get back to you within 24 hours. My clients have never had issues with any kind of support dealing directly with Sager. You actually speak to a person and you don't have to go through 95 different phone menus like the big corporations.
How bad is sager support?
