I've looked through the BIOS and I did find something that mentioned AHCI but it was greyed out. The BIOS version is 1.00.09b, where do I enable it?

I can't 'revert' to anything, this is the BIOS that came with the system.

eleron, I don't think he can actually find out where in the BIOS to change the setting to enable AHCI.

ms500, for my part, I went to the page where you could turn on the Intel Robson (I think it was in Advanced Chipset Configuration, or something to that effect), and after I enabled the Robson, AHCI was enabled as well; however, I don't have Turbo Memory installed, so I was always curious as to why those two options seemed to be linked.

Yes, I saw that option but couldn't work out why I had to enable Intel Robson at the same time, so I left it off since I don't have turbo memory.

I'll try enabling it and see what happens.

I've got it working now, I just enabled the Intel Robson setting.

I got it from Novatech in the UK, here:

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NNB-614

I only got it yesterday, so I guess maybe they've started shipping them with a new BIOS.

I tried those drivers and they knocked 300 points off my 3dmark score compared to the stock 167.43 drivers.

If there was a way, I'd have a go for you.

oh yeah, I used version 1.6.5.6 of Winphlash to create the backup, that may be the issue.

    Here's the version I used:

Odd, I can't think of any other way of doing it. I just selected the file name and clicked 'backup', and it completed saying 'backup successful'.

maybe I have a slightly different revision of the M570, mine is the 'U' version with 'Extreme Edition' etched on the bottom panel. I know there are a few different revisions out there.

It may seem pointless, but did you try renaming the file to .wph? Also, could the RAR compression have corrupted it?

no its nothing you did wrong. problem is the file size. being that is a "backup" its a compressed version of the bios.. the full bios is about 1.4 mb that file is half that. its not a true .wph file. renaming it will not do any good if the file is not the right size of file to open

Hi Z, when u want to backup the BIOS in full 1M size, u should add a original BIOS in the Folder, too, and load it also in winphlash. This is special for Phoenix BIOS, not like Award or AMI. And the backuped BIOS in this way will NOT be opened by Phoenix BIOS Editor.....I already tried that before.
