    It's $40 and i don't know if it's applied or not. Any way to tell if they did ?
    Temperatures playing SC2, ultra for 30 minutes, stock, 80c
    i underclocked it to .75v left it over night and got 34c to be the lowest.
    Including a z-2000 cooler.

    Temperatures are for GPU.

    I guess the only way to tell is to open up the laptop and do a visual inspection.

    Or ask? :)

    haha although not only you can't tell if the compound is the ICD stuff or the stock stuff AND you'd have to remove and re-apply the compound if you remove the heatsink off from the GPU/CPU....

    I guess you can only have to trust their word that they used the ICD... I mean they would have to right? Because it's basically scam if they didn't. o_O;;;

    I mean, I would personally buy the compound separately with the laptop purchase and apply them myself... but if I do that I have a chance that I'd void the warranty (cuz of those little stickers I see attached to the heatsink that says "warranty voided if removed")

    I thought that Sager laptops don't have those stickers because everything is supposed to be easily upgradeable?

    Oh Sorry, forgot to mention that I was referring to my ASUS laptop that had those stickers.... kind of assumed that notebook manufacturers don't want the users to fiddle around with the notebook's insides during the warranty time. I haven't received my NP8130 yet... sorry if I confused pplz. :'(

    But if Sager doesn't do that and don't have those stickers then wow... I'm amazed :D

    Warranty stickers? Clevo's?? [IMG]

    But on a serious note, I recommend applying IC Diamond yourself to 1. spare the cost and 2. apply it well.

    I use IC Diamond myself and it's wonderful.

    FYI it's IC Diamond not IC7 Diamond like people keep referring to it here, not nitpicking just pointing it out because you'll have a lot better time searching for it by the real name should you want to order a tube, people confuse the 7 as part of the name but it's just referring to the size of the tube, the 7 "Carat" is the 1.5gram tube while the 24 "Carat" is the 4.8 gram.

    LOL, everything on a Sager is practically begging you to open it up and unscrew everything and take everything out. It's so easily done. The user guide even tells you how to do all this.

    BTW, those warranty stickers have absolutely no legal binding power. They are just for psychological effect. Asus specifically admitted that the stickers are not legal when they were dealing with problems with their Eee PCs with those stickers.

    Yep. One of the biggest benefits is that you aren't voiding your warranty by replacing pretty much anything. Just the motherboard typically has restrictions. Adding a new part only exempts the part you added (as your reseller obviously won't warranty a part you added yourself)

    if only I knew this ahead of time..... I could probably save few bucks on the thermal compound if I applied it myself :( (and it's not like Sager is going to give me some extra IC Diamond with the laptop)

    I just checked eBay and they sell it for $10.50 (CAD) for the IC Dia. 7 and $21.50 (CAD) for the 24 Carat one. :( there goes my 40 bucks T.T;;

    Question, if I buy a caddy from the same reseller, will they warrant it?

    Oh, you can definitely tell ICD7 from the generic thermal paste. It has a higher viscosity and darker color.

    Mine shipped with the factory paste, and I have my own tube of ICD7.

    Yeah that`s what I thought. :)
    So yeah, to OP, you can remove heatsink and check this and then be prepared to repaste.

    Hell, I've seen reps on some computer forums that will send you free samples of IC Diamond if you provide a review or post your experiences.

    Caddy will never fail. It's so simplistic. It's basically just a cable. Think of it as an extension cord for connecting the mSATA of your harddrive to the mSATA of the optical bay. The PCB has nothing on it except for the small circuit to drive the activity LED which most people won't even use.

    Hi, just wanna ask, since you picked the IC Diamond option,
    did they send you the syringe of IC Diamond as well?
    or did they just applied it once for you?

    If you're talking about resellers, then they will apply it properly for you. Sometimes they don't do a proper job and you have to do it yourself, but those times are rare (and it honestly depends on the reseller).
