I ordered an np8660 from xoticpc.com and i was wondering, will xotic ever see/examine my machine or will it ship directly from the sager factory to my house? I'm not asking due to concerns about quality control, I'm just trying to extrapolate a reasonable timetable from the time clevo ships the m860tu to the states to when it gets in my hands.

Any specualtion is welcome, but if u have facts to back up your comments please share.

P.S. I preordered around July 23 and have paid since then by credit card if that makes any difference.

It always comes directly from Sager to you. From what I've heard, Sager does do a burn in/test prior to shipping, though.

does that make any sense to anyone though...

Why not order right from sager than if xoticpc doesnt even touch it ... whats the point? there just redoing your order... or is there something i'm missing ?

Better tech support and a slightly lower price come to mind.

You're also paying lesser through the resellers due to the 3% cash discount.
The whole point is that the resellers have a special dealing with Sager (ofcourse!) and they get the machines at price 'x' (This is my own understanding ofcourse - feel free to correct me in case I'm wrong). Buying directly from Sager costs you 'z' amount. But from the resellers it costs 'y' amount, where :
    x < y < z
This works because the resellers get the machines much cheaper and sell it to you while maintaining a balance of letting you get it cheaper and yet, themselves manage to make a slight profit. Now the margins aren't much... but this is basically what the resellers do (since you were asking what the point of buying from the resellers and not Sager directly was).

more likely they get the commission from sager, they don't need to "get" the machines.

They build / ship the orders in the order that payment is received. Also the timetable would be Friday the 8th they receive the units. They do 2-3 days of testing since it is a new unit. So that is Mon - Wed 11-14, they build and test and finish by the 15th which is a friday. They dont operate/ship weekends so your looking at shipping starting the week of the 18th.

any ideas how the uk/euro computers from sager work ie: np8860 >> m860tu >> kobalt nexus >> rock extreme 620 etc etc.
is it the computers are built by sager and then sent to the respective uk/europe dealer who then re badge them and then forward them onto you.

Xotic takes the order, and sager delivers.
Xotic only touches the laptop if you have a special skin or custom paint.
And they add 2 years of labor and 24/7 tech support.
