    How do u get 8 gigs ram into Np8660?

    I was just wondering? when i bought mine from xoticpc the most i could get was 4 gigs. Can u upgrade your self?

    If you can find 4gb sticks of DDR3 RAM (don't think these exist atm :p ) then u can get 8 gigs if not then...maybe try DDR2 but 8 gigs ddr2 < 4 gigs ddr3 i believe. And yes you should be able to upgrade yourself just call your reseller (xoticpc) to let them know what you want to do and possibly get them to walk you through it in order to protect your warranty!

    ddr2 is not physically compatible with the 8660, differently keyed ram sticks

    just wait for notebook DDR3 prices to go down, they are starting to drop as more manufacturers produce them.

    How are those 8 gigs going scourge? Can you actually see and utilize that amount in Vista 64? Also, what programs are you using that you've seen it benefit you so far?

    6GB is about the most it has utilized so far with some large full HD video/audio editing. I haven't really had much of a chance to look at usage in games or much of anything else yet.
