I just a blu ray burner for my np8170. But I know I have to switch the faceplates so that it wont look ugly. However I have no idea how I remove them? Is it a pull out sort of thing or do i have to unscrew something? thanks.

There are some clips on the bezel that hold it to the optical, its tool-less however, please be careful those clips are cheap and like to break there should be one on the edge of the bezel thats where we usually start just push it in you'll see it on the side

    Hello

Yes your are right thank you I got it. I looked at some videos on youtube as well and it was more of a pulling out than unscrewing anything just like you said. Those little peices of plastic that are attached are very cheap so you do need to be careful when removing them... Now the question is whats the best blu ray burner software to get?

I tried Blu Cloner and it would not work for me. You also need Anydvd installed to defeat the copy protection. You can download both and try them, like I said they wouldnt work for me. Just made expensive coasters. Thats for backing up my Blu ray collection anyways. Otherwise Nero is good for making data bluray disks.

i see... I dont think I will ever copy blu rays..It just seems like a hassle. How much do blank blu rays go for these days???
I remember cloning dvds and it was so annoying... i was always on forums reading and downloading different types of software...

i plan on buying Lord of the Rings Extended blu ray ... i love that movie...

I am looking into getting a bluray burner for my p170 maybe sometime early next year as i have no need for it this year. I hope bluray burners will be $80 by next year as they are still $100 atm.

I have cloned many of my own DVD without problems. Lots of great software out there for DVDs. Blu Rays disks are pricey, but I only buy them on sale. You can fit several DVD movies on a single 25GB Blu ray.
