i know that it weights 11 pounds and has a big power block, but is it that hard to carry?and had anyone traveled with it?thx
-
If your worried about traveling, maybe the 5793 is right for you Xi?
-
-
I carry my 12 pound D900K with me all the time in my notebook backpack... you get used to it.
Just make sure to get a comfortable backpack. -
well,i m deciding between this and desktop+5793 combo ,but i like 9262 idea more,but i ve to travel once in 2 month,so...
-
-
Why not just get a 5793 and be happy with it ?
-
no problem here carry my beastie around. only one gripe is taking it out my bag at airport security
-
- work, school, trips, etc. -
i feel pain for carrying 5793 around. only took it out twice ever since I bought it.
-
^^ Agreed. You 9262 lovers (Gophn
) must be gym trainers!
-
Pain?!?!?!?
Its 8lbs!!!!!
ARGH!!!!
Yea, were all nerds, but work out every once in a while -
hmm id rather use a 9262 if i had the choice.. i dont think its that much of a difference really
-
Right you are, young grasshopper ! -
-
I cannot get past 130 pounds... its always slightly underneath.
My metabolism is too high.
I am glad my backpack has good straps and an adjustable lumbar-support brace.
Although being a former Boy Scout might have helped. -
-
And even if you dont work out, you can do your daily excercise by carrying this beast -
Think of it like Yoda from Star Wars saying that
Got it from another member here
^^ True that -
^lol, that is pretty good cos i ve to do daily exercises-but that sucks!
-
I carry my D901C to and from work every month. Mine sits on a table during the month that I'm gone from home. It's not a pain at all to carry. It definitely is better to carry for my purpose than a full desktop.

I fly twice a week and carry a 9750 (same size and weight as 9262).
I am using a Targus backpack that I ordered from PCTorque at the time of the laptop order. The backpack is very comfortable.
I am 6' 2" 215lbs in OK shape. The laptop gets heavy. I am fine walking through the airport but if I am standing around for more than 10 minutes at a time I take the backpack off and rest it on the floor. I do not like carrying the backpack for more than a few minutes on one shoulder, I use both straps. My shoulders are where the backpack really starts to feel heavy after a while. My legs are fine carrying the backpack and myself around.
Often times airport security will run the backpack through the xray more than once and sometimes pull it aside for an explosives check becaue the 9262 is so different than any other laptop out there. You get a lot of comments like "That is the biggest laptop I have ever seen". My reply is usually "That is why I have a backpack". I fly through the same airports every week and the TSA agents mostly know me by site so the scrutiny has loosened up a bit.
Don't expect to use the 9262 much while it is not plugged in. You will get maybe 1 - 1 1/2 hours of use on battery. The 9262 is not that comfortable sitting on your lap. It can be done but if possbile find a table with a nearby outlet to plug it in to.
If you fly all the time join one of the airline clubs so you have somewhere to go and sit in the airport out of the terminal. Most of these clubs have tables or small desks to sit and plug your machine in. Many clubs offer free wireless access.
If you have any other travel questions post them here. I will be happy to help as much as I can. -
My old desktop replacement notebook weighs the same as the 9262. With a backpack it's not bad. Gets old fast if you're carrying it in a regular notebook bag. Also not fun it you wind up having to work with it in your lap. Eventually I wasn't taking it off my desk at work because the weight is just too much of a pain to deal with. I have a 5793 as my new notebook. It's much easier to carry, and I wind up taking it home with me every day. I'd only consider the 9262 if you plan one leaving it in one spot most of the time.
-
I don`t carry a 9262 , I carry a 5791, with loads of books, paper, extra stuff and most of the time boxes with other heavy things. I also have a tool kit with me, since I help a lot of friends clean their deskops/laptops and you never know when it comes in handy. Oh yea, I use the XoticPc default bag, still looking good, though it does strain my neck a bit.
I would rather have a heavy 9262 and all the power in the world than a macbook air and have the power of the air -

I have never found a problem. It appears light in the bag.
-
the weight of the laptop is not the issue because even a light 15" laptop you will fill the remaining space in your backpack with more stuff so in the end you will always be carrying a heavy bag.
i would go for a one computer solution so that way you can carry your work everywhere you go and not have to worry about managing 2 systems and loading information between them back and forth. not to mention that you will have only 1 monitor and less of everything and it saves space. just make sure to invest in an extended warranty through sager directly. get the 3 year warranty.
you can have one very fast laptop and save on space as well as having the portability to go anywhere (anywhere that has a wall outlet for that matter, but this holds true for almost any gaming rig) and not having to worry about added clutter.
one rig, one solution to everything, that follows you everywhere. why deal with the added clutter of desktops (monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, stand, wires everywhere, noise factor, heat, more power-hungry) and the worry about managing a laptop and a desktop at the same time? you sound like you have the money to spend. i say spend it on the fastest rig you can get with a 3 year extended warranty and no dead pixel warranty from sager. -
It is light enough for me to carry every day from home desk to work desk by foot, train and sub (2x45 mins).
Having said this, I could not imagine me carrying it around the city to the gym, classes, library, starbucks etc etc.

I have an Alienware m5500. And a backback. The weight of the laptop is 6.5 pounds. The weight of my backpack with the laptop is 23 pounds. For me, it's not the laptop, its all the other stuff I throw into the backpack {which doubles as my day bag}.
-
Using the free Sager laptop bag, the 5793 with power adapter and mouse is a bit of a load to carry. I'm sure it would be better with a comfortable backpack, but it's a little intimidating to imagine carrying around the 9262, which weighs almost 50% more. I bet it would be more than managable in a high quality notebook backpack..but a regular over the shoulder bag would probably be out of the question for more than a few minutes at a time.

I have reviewed a number of these beast Sager/Clevo notebooks over the years. They are definitely more cumbersome to carry around than a standard 15.4" but you adjust over time. I did feel that the weight of the machine discouraged me from taking it places.
You will want to have a good bag with good padding. The stock bag is skimpy - no padding at all. A backpack would be ideal for this machine. -

You will get used to it very fast.i don't even feel it.Yes the power adapter is heavy, but still it's not that heavy.

thank you for replies!other options?

I've got a sager np 5791. It, with all the other crap I take with me, my bag weighs ~17 pounds depending on what I'm taking with me that day. It's not THAT bad, you get used to it. It also helps to have a good backpack.
-
I have not yet receive my Booq Slimcase XXL bag.. but with the default business bag, dragging 5793 is a pain in the arm x_X
I'm also thinking of buying the 3L system.. but that's just expensive :/ -
I travel quite a bit lately with mine. Last month I was on travel for 3 weeks out of the month with it. I house mine in the Mobile Edge SecurePack, and it works great. as dazzd said - the big pain in the rear is going through airport security and yanking the laptop out of the backpack to go through the xray machine. It does get heavy, but the SecurePack has a hip-clip, like a real hiking backpack, and that certainly helps. Your don't looks very cool, but it saves your shoulders and your back, for sure.
-
I`d shell max 100$ for a bag that looks and feels nice. More than that, might as well get a cart

I think Alienware deluxe is a good bag too.

I've been using the Targus XL backpack (which I payed $64?) for about a year now. Good backpack for the D901C.
How hard is to carry Sager 9262 with you?
