As much as I hate ASUS and their Taiwanese junk laptops, they had a not so bad of a bass for a laptop, especially the older moderls like the G73Sw with the Creative Soundcard, the bass sounded so good for a laptop. Now on my Alienware 18 the bass is nonexistent unless you turn off the Dolby Digital Audio but then the sound lacks any real loud volume or fidelty so you're left with either no bass + good sound or garbage sound + decent bass.

so how is the audio quality and bass on the Sager NP9773-S / NP9772-S

Headphones or external speakers. Laptop audio sucks period. Can't overcome physical design limitations.

MSI laptops' Dynaudio speakers are slightly less terrible than most but still wimpy. I owned a G73JH which has the same speakers and sub as the G73SW you liked. Yes that sucked too.

Clevo is made in Taiwan like most computer hardware so I guess that qualifies it as "Taiwanese junk" too.

The audio quality through the speakers and especially the bass is pretty rubbish on my XMG P505 (a rebadged Clevo P651SE), certainly much worse than compared to an old 2008 Macbook Pro I have, though I don't regret my purchase, as it's great in most other respects

Just wanted to interject here that clevo is also a Taiwanese company. Taiwanese companies actually make up a majority of the gaming laptop manufacturers

Laptop speakers will never be great, the be they get are OK (IMO anyway). Headphones or externals are the way to go.

My beloved M11X R.I.P 2014 was like 30X better in any aspect sound related.
    They definitely could do better.
But we have good headphones\sound systems in our homes.
    It's just the speakers.

Some models are better than others, but as with any laptop: don't expect much of an audio experience from the speakers. A good external set, despite the audio chip's limitations, can provide much better audio quality.

I once heard the Klipsch speakers on some guy's desktop back in 2000 when I visited Texas and man those were the best sounding speakers I ever heard in my life!

Although Notebookcheck always praises Dynaudio Speakers and says that no need for external systems while using them but indeed, those speakers you mentioned are really looking monsters of sound!

Yes man the bass I head was something I haven't ever experienced before! It shocked me just the same way when I was used to VGA cards with no 3D Hardware Acceleration then saw my first game running with a Voodo3 (FIFA 1996) and man my jaw dropped to the smoothness / realism when I was used to games being choppy / have square blocks as textures...... those Klipsch speakers even 15 years ago gave me that sensation but for Audio

You can actually get better audio quality with a nice pair of headphones since the sound is more focused/isolated and isn't affected by the acoustics of the room you're in. Not to mention, headphones are a lot more convenient and mobile than a good speaker system when you're using a laptop.

I rather not to use headphones because it messes with my hair but I would like to give a shot. Are there any good headphones that you recommend? I'm looking for wireless headphones but I don't know if they're good in terms of reliability. Cable ones always seem to more reliable to me. Though my wireless mouse was working terrible, the same brand's wireless keyboard works perfectly. I think it depends.

Have a small 500W Klipsch set from that era, very nice with shooters. Once placed an empty can in front of the subwoofer (on desk), ran a bass test and " whoosh", can flew across the room ... lots of fun. Though it does need solid footing or some weights to keep it down, will start to hobble otherwise.

Really, can't expect a laptop to match that (or a good set of headphones). Given a choice; simple stereo speakers would suffice (for the odd youtube thingy), better save the space for something useful. Can't imagine using laptop speakers for movies or games ... custom iem's are perfect for that; full immersion and bothers no one around you. Subwoofer is nice for the grunt, but its low frequencies carry a bit far ...

    Might check head-fi.

For the clevo, looking at internal speakers : they are super bad in every aspects, their so-called "subwoofer" is actually way smaller than a standard speaker of my former MSI GT60, and it's even got smaller on the SM version ( you can still see the previous mounting points). the speakers are.......nanoscopics........
the external output is bad too : distortions, messy stereo,etc.....nothing good

I follow Karashin, the Dyanudio on MSI are very good, and close to equall a ASUS N55 with its external sub. and audio output is quite good.

What kind of wacky hairdo do you have? :p

Anyway, it depends on what your budget is. You'll spend much more for wireless than you will for a comparable quality pair of wired headphones, that's for sure.

MSI has amazing speakers. Clevo, mediocre. Asus, absolutely dreadful.

I gave up on laptop speakers. Just buy a $10-$20 bluetooth speaker and it already sounds much better than any laptop speaker.

An external set of speakers or a good set of earphones can make quite a difference over the stock speakers, and they don't even need to be pricey ($30 - $50 for something noticeably better). Since everybody perceives sound dramatically differently from one another, this opens up a whole new world for a better audio experience too.

My sager laptop speakers are just kinda meh. There louder than a every day laptop but if theres any noise at all around you they get drowned. Its fine for watching youtube videos, but i dont use them for gaming. If you dont want to use headphones your best bet is to buy a nice bluetooth speaker. I use a bluetooth speaker with mine, its a crappy $40 one but its leagues above my laptop speakers. MSI is the only brand that has half decent speakers but honestly there not amazing. Your still better off using a speaker or headset.
