How is the quality of Sager's laptops?

How is the quality of Sager's laptops?
In my country there is no warrenty...
So, What do you think about:
Sager NP8150-S1 (Built on Clevo P150HM) Custom Gaming Sager Notebook
Sager NP8130 (Built on Clevo P151HM1) Custom Sager Laptop
Sager NP5175 Custom Laptop (Built on the Clevo W170HR)

Generally speaking, they're good quality and will last you, but that's assuming you take care of them. If you keep it clean, cool, and protected (aka, in a case or bag when traveling and don't drop it), it should last you quite a while. What country are you in that doesn't have a reseller? Most US resellers will still extend the warranty to wherever you are with the caveat that you have to sent it back to the US for warranty work if needed.

There are so many that have had their Sager and Clevo's for years and they are still going stong!

You're the same kid who started this thread right? If your criteria for buying laptops is as simplistic as those for buying mice, you'd be better served reading the forum on what notebook to buy and filling in the FAQ there. You'll get more help and possibly more suggestions instead of your random decision on Clevo laptops based on lack of local warranty options. Your call to heed or ignore this post.

As for build quality, most owners on this forum are generally happy with what they've paid for. You'll get the occasional rant about cheap build quality and materials used for the budget line of Clevo notebooks, however the models you've listed are the top of the line range and there are plenty of testimonials on the owners' forum.

 

The major issue with anything in today's market is that, on average, you will get a certain lifespan on a product. For example, let's call it four years on premium level laptops. Now, I have a Dell XPS that is six years old, and is still going strong (no hardware failures, etc). I, though, have taken it apart four times a year for the past three years that I have owned it to fully clean the system, as well as making sure to keep it as cool as possible and protecting it from damage. But, I have also been in two motorcycle accidents with it in my backpack, and it still functions perfectly fine.

The major issue will be aging parts versus what the world expects your computer to be able to do. Four years ago, this laptop was not to bad, running XP, and rocking a 6800m Ultra. Now, though, the single core Pentium M is really showing age, and, from my use with other systems, I can feel the lack of multithreading biting me.

You, though, could easily buy a laptop that, in EXACTLY three years, dies. The chances of that are extremely slim, of course. In fact, the most important time to warranty is the first year, as that's when hardware defects normally show up. Anyways, for the bang-for-buck rating, you aren't going to be able to find anything better it seems. I'll be hoping for a 18.4" to 19.2" replacement for the x7200, as that'd be a lovely upgrade to my current system.

I have mixed feelings on this. I've owned a sager 5791 for 4 years now and it had the fastest components for the best price. I used to bring it with me everywhere for the first 2 years and i've had a headphone go out, 3 hinges and a hard drive. Lately, the plug has melted onto the casing. This of course is an extreme case but still what I believe to be cheaper plastic to house the best components money can buy. I am sure many will say I abused this system, but I brought it to work, set it up and brought it home again 6 days a week for 2 years. I got my money out of this investment. Invest in a warranty. Don't save this way.

I have owned 7 laptops including an asus(still working 6 years strong), toshiba, dell, hp, etc. I am definitely not new to laptops and talking from my experience. Good luck in your laptop search.

Most of our users have actually been very happy with their Sager models, and some have used them for years without issue. As with any computer, however, things can happen even if you take great care of the machine. If you are concerned about the warranty internationally, you might take a look at some brands that will offer an international plan because there are several out there. I personally would be very confident picking up a Sager model based on the feedback I get on a daily basis. Good luck on your search!

 

Well, i recently shot myself in the foot with the sager np8150, without really knowing what to expect, the only reason i chose Sager is because:

New dell xps models are UGLY, nothing else to declare here.
New Asus Republic of gamers notebooks are so thick and huge. IMHO their design is awkward at best.
I never liked the look of MSI..
Acer, Toshiba and HP have nothing i want in terms of high performance components.

That leaves Sager and Alienware (sorry if i left out any other manufacturer, just naming out of memory right now) and since Sager would give me a better price than alienware i had to shed a tear and leave the looks and awesome lighting effects for a cheaper but faster laptop.

In conclusion, its what fits you best! i cant say anything about build quality because mine hasn't even arrived yet, but i can tell you that any laptop will last at least a year without issues, and two years if mantained correctly (some people will disagree with me, but its just personal experience)

Lol im in the same situation as you, cant wait for it to get here... just 6 more days!!!

(if anything, im unhappy with how long it takes to get here, but then again they are custom built laptops )

 

Lol I'm prolly gonna finalize this weekend hopefully.

8130, i7 2720, 8gb ddr3 1333mhz, and 560m

for 1400 with warranty that is a pretty good deal. a similarly configured dell (with 540M) is 1370.. and so far Dell support has been like me trying to communicate with an apple.
