XoticPC has a pretty good offer right now on upgrading screens on the NP8130. It's only $95 extra for getting the 95% Gamut Matte display instead of the stock matte display.

The display of the NP8130 is literally the only thing that is left to decide which gaming laptop I will be buying. If the stock screen on the NP8130 is good, then I will buy it. If the stock screen is bad, then I will buy the MSI GT683R instead, since with an OS and 2 year warranty (as well as the LCD update) they would be the same price.

So how is the stock screen on the NP8130, and is it worth the $95 to upgrade?

I think most owners here that have the stock NP8130 Matte Screen will say they like it very much. We have seen no complaints about it... :)

when i get my laptop i will tell you, and also the msi uses the hm67 chipset which supports raid, and it has two hard drives, not including the one you can put in a caddy. the np8130 has the hm65 chipset with no raid and only 1 hard drive. but i have heard that the build quality on msi products is not nearly as good as that of sager or clevo.

I use the P151HM1 / 8130 everyday and the stock screen is very nice. I'm sure you will be satisfied with it. :)

We have actually had great luck with the stock screen from Sager. Sager seems to consistently have some of the better stock screens available on the market.

LOL. Three resellers respond! But I agree, I feel Sager machines are of better build quality, better screen (well at least on the 8130), and better cooling.

The stock screen on the NP8130 is really nice. I mean, it's only 60% gamut instead of 95%, but it's fantastic. Really clear, has the matte finish. I'm happy.
