Curious how long Sager models last as a platform? I know the Sager 8662 was the previous 15.6 laptop, replaced 8690....anyone know ball park how long these stay current (minus the gpu/cpu refreshes).

Although I still consider my 2007 9261 as a flagship, it has been flagged off by a 9262 in 2008 and 9280 in 2009. It's lonely at the top but you won't be there for long: 1 year?

As long as they keep the current chassis/motherboard, you can upgrade to the flagship model yourself rather easily. Although, once they move to a new processor platform, your time at the top is over.

As stated above, you could definitely remain at the top for a year.

blame intel for annual hardware refresh , thus OEMs have no choice but to introduce new laptops to the market otherwise they will lose to the competition
