I'm thinking of getting it but with all the reports of heat problems, I'm thinking of changing my mind. How many years do you think it will last as a good performing laptop if it keeps having those heat problems?

Edit: Also is someone going to make a HQ video review soon?

    Incredibly subjective question.

I can say 1000 years and nobody would know.

There are a few with the HDD issue, but like I always said, that's only small portion of those who purchased the 8662. Majority is enjoying with no problem.

as sabricaze says, its almost inpossible to tell.
ive had my m860tu (same computer) for almost a year now and have had hardly any problems with heat. i believe the 260m runs cooler than the 9800gt so theres one pluss point.the majority you read on here are to do with hard drives.
you have to remember you might only see posts from people moaning about heat. what about the thousands of happy customers from around the world that dont bother coming to forums as they have no problems.

You two say that the system longetivity can't be known until you have some proof that will only surface after a few years... but then you say that only a very small minority of M860TU owners have the HDD problem without showing some proof? hm :/

Most the problems you are hearing about in the owners thread is from guys installing Qx9300's and GTX 280m's in their systems... as far as I know as long as you don't stick anything in there that shouldn't be there lol, it's going to run well and keep fairly cool

I wouldn't discourage them from doing such things, though.

not too subjective of a question.

Like I said in the Clevo Guide:

"If you take care of your notebook (monitor temps, regularly cleaning out vents/fans, annually re-apply thermal compound, etc.), then it will easily last for years to come."

I have been adamant with my notebook... and its still near mint condition after 3 years of heavy usage. :)

I agree, even my 2 year old Asus G1S still functions fine, even though most of the users here have had theirs die at some point.
