How many users jumped ship in favour of Clevo machines ?
I'm ordering a Clevo order in January after jumping ship from Alienware (4 motherboards, 2 sli GFX cards, 2 screens, 3 Keyboards countless cables and other bits - months waiting for parts. Lack of driver updates etc).
So what did you jump from ?
Just interested....

Just got my first high end laptop from Clevo. Jumped from cheap Acer to Clevo. Downloading games, installing drivers, etc so I haven't done much with it, but really loving the look of the 370. And that backlit keyboard... Love it!

Me too, jumped from Acer directly to Clevo.
Laptops owned so far:
2008-Asus EEE-PC 702 (lasted 6-7 months)
2011-Acer 5742g (lasted 10 months)
2011-Clevo P150HM (lasted 1 year and 2 months)
2012-Clevo W370ET (using it now) -
Going to Clevo/Sager after Apple macbook pro's here in a month. Need the gaming aspect part along with photoshop work. still need to decide between 6370 and 9170 more so 660m and 670mx

jumped from gaming desktop and hp laptop to my sig over a year ago, still going strong running almost 24/7
also I was impressed how the resellers here (at the time, malibal, lpc-digital, mythlogic and xoticpc) were very active in helping out the community, inquiries with them were/are still very personal compared to getting off the shelf items they make the extra effort in helping out their customers. -
I had an old Acer laptop from early 2008. But I'm coming from my custom build gaming PC desktop (running both).
Had some issues with my 7970m GPU though; details in the other thread. -
previous laptops in my sig
my first highperf. laptop was the asus c90s, was tons of fun to fiddle around and mod with, but the clevo p150hm is by far the best laptop ive ever had! im still in love with this thing and thinking of keeping it another year or so, depending on haswell and the nextgen gpus

xbox 360.
nah but seriously, a desktop with a dual core and integrated graphics :/
so a clevo is a massive leap. -
moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
I would say I switched from favoring msi to clevo.
I definitely am a big fan of building from barebones. The quality and steathy looks of the clevo really put it ahead.
Though there are still some things I miss from my old msi notebook, one thing I don't miss is the plastic cracking everywhere.
The only reason I had so many toshiba notebooks in the past was just because they are so abundant in Australia. -
jumped from asus to clevo a few months ago

jumped from alienware 5 years ago and it was the best move i ever made.
19 days of pure hell with that company. every single day on to tech support for another problem.
within 19 day i had a dead motherboard and 8800gtx graphics card and was lied too about returning it for a refund.
in the end had to rma it for a repair instead and thankfully the knobheads sent me back someone elses laptop so i asked for refund there and then.
it was this great forum pointed me in the direction of clevo and i havnt looked back ever since. -
It's not jumping ship, it's just going with what you feel is the best value for your money at that time. For me at that time it was this Clevo machine.
For whatever reason, MSI and Asus decided providing you the best value for the money was no longer something they wanted to do. Their prices skyrocketed in just a few years and you get less of what matters and more of what is just marketing fluff. I can add an extra 4GB of ram myself for far less than what MSI/Asus were trying to sell me as if it was an awesome deal when in fact it's a terrible deal.
Alienware even if price was right, their design is a toy. If they change that, then maybe. Their Dell Precision though, very tempting. Next time I'll be considering that.
When Samsung decides to come on board with high end machines, I'll probably be switching to that. Seems to be overall best in design, quality, attention to detail, design, hardware and price right now.
Unlike so many of the Clevo 7970M whiners, I do not regret my purchase though. Being able to get fast service/response from Clevo resellers/builders here is something I would not have gotten with Dell, Samsung, MSI or Asus. Being able to upgrade and get numerous updates has been a joy. Great machine, great resellers/builders and great community.
My only want for this machine is I wish it had better fans. The fans on the Alienware seem superior to me. And if it had MSI's heatsinks. That would be the perfect cooling system. -
A few years ago I got my first laptop (Asus K50AB) which was pretty good compared to what I was used to (512 MB of discrete graphics which easily overpowered my ~10 year old desktop at the time). About a year ago I upgraded to another Asus (U56E) for the 8-cell battery. (My old laptop only got 30 minutes of battery life and I was forced to sit next to an outlet in class.)
A few months ago, however, I wanted to replace my desktop/laptop combo for just one higher-end laptop as I prefer the portability for college, etc. I was looking at the Asus G-series (having no issues with Asus in the past) but their prices seemed really high for what you get. Alienware was a no as they look really tacky to me and they're a bit on the pricey side. (Thanks to these forums) I then happened to discover Clevo, which was pretty exciting because it was really great performance without cleaning out my bank account. (Hey, saving a couple hundred $$$ while in college is definitely a good thing!) Everyone always asks what the plain black laptop is, and why it has two giant vents in the back.
Hands down the best laptop I have owned yet (actually the best PC I have owned yet), and will definitely consider a Clevo when it's time for a new purchase. -

Probably resold for better specs before the price drops

went from Lenovo netbook to my sig, so massive leap, haha.

I was ACER->ASUS->CLEVO->ASUS->Then Finally back to Clevo why did i go to asus after already on Clevo? Well I had a D901C and originally couldnt afford 3K for a updated laptop so I went with the G73JH got it at a great deal but then sold it off when I got enough and got my D900F
-
also went from a Lenovo Y570 (my first laptop) to a Clevo P150EM and what an upgrade! i consider the Lenovo as my introduction into the laptop world. i wanted something for gaming but did not know 100% what i needed and what to look for. one year with the Y570 was enough and lots and lots of research led me to my current beast
will hopefully upgrade again to a Clevo laptop in a couple years time -
Purchased an Asus about 2 years ago. The insides melted 1 week after the warranty ended. After being through hours and hours of phone calls with different information given about what I could do, I gave up. Just got my Clevo a week or so ago. So far its been amazing. I also got a three year warranty

I went the other way to MSI, just certain aspects I had got used to on the MSI which brought me back, but different people will have different priorities.

All of them worked just fine!
The stuff I sell is always in perfect spot-on condition, as new.
No scratches....no marks...even no fingerprints! (I never use the laptop keyboards and trackpads)
And they have leftover warranty as well.
And all the original packaging (including EVERYTHING), I dont even remove the foil on the glossy parts.
So yeah, thats just how I roll. I love having the latest hardware and selling my "old" ones for good prices.
And the new owners are always happy!
Sold my P150HM last week, the owner loves it and called me up on the phone to tell me how it looked like new. -
Came from a DELL XPS.
Got a W860CU Clevo.
Might turn back to Clevo once Broadwell comes out (~2014) -
-
Came from Apple (LOL)
oh god, those horrible memories when I got a consistent 5 fps on SC2 during 200/200 battles... -
So nothing to worry about, pictures tend to deceive in both ways, either looking too good or way too bad. -
Cant imagine what it would be if you tried Marine Arena and the map tends to spawn over 1000 units at the 5-th min mark -

My asus G53jw was the biggest piece of crap in terms of build quality. I replaced the power conector 6 times, a usb port broke off, Keypad broke, keyboard broke.....
I LOVE my NP9150 -
Heh, I know what you mean. Used to do the same before on my desktop parts every time there was something new in the market.

My first gaming laptop was an Asus G1Sn-X1 from Best Buy before going to Iraq in 2008. When I was coming back on leave the motherboard got fried in Kuwait when someone turned off the AC in the transient housing tent I was sleeping in and it got like 150 degrees. I did a bunch of research and all signs pointed to Sager NP8662. It met an untimely death due to a bit of PTSD rage and I couldn't afford a new Sager so I got a Dell XPS15. I had a repairman fix it like every other month because it crapped out all the time.
For father's day this year my wife got me an NP9170 to replace the XPS15, which finally died for good... Dell replaced it with a newer XPS 15 but I didn't care because I had the 9170. The 9170 was a beast but it was way too heavy to carry around so I picked up a 6110, which out of all the Sagers is probably my favorite. I think 11.6" is the perfect size for a school notebook, its light and has enough power to play games on high settings. Retired the 9170 with a desktop, but I use the 6110 around the house and on the go all the time. -
i didnt jump ship, just came accross a good deal

Price/performance is always going to be a strong pull one way or the other, MSI have taken their retail machines too far out in price IMO, at least they have left the barebones in a good place.
