I am thinking of upgrading my 5796 from vista 64 to windows 7. Does anyone know if I will be able to get more than 4 gigs of ram out of windows 7 or is it still only going to recognize 4 gigs?

So I should be able to drop 8 gigs in my 5796 without a problem then.

32 bit Win 7 supports up to 4gb (which is shared with your gpu ram so if you have a 512mb gpu youll have 3,488gb ram).
64 bit Win 7 will support your maximum laptop capacity (your motherboard supports less than what this os has to offer - im assuming youll go for ultimate?).

    EDIT:
@HellCry - I think he means hes thinking of buying 8GB of chips and putting it in but wanted to check out if it could take it first?

As long as your hardware will support it, yes.

The biggest issue you'll face is simply affording two pricey 4 GB chips :).
