The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. These forums pack a lot of info if you're looking to buy a sager/clevo machine. It wouldn't hurt to post questions if you got any.

As Larry stated above you need 5 posts and after 24 hrs you can send PMs.

hehe I see google's search datamining all-inclusive services integration is working as intended... like searching for "headphones" once and then you notice every ad and search result from google have some relation to headphones.

Is there any where to find the discount information for NBR members specifically for Mythologic and Maribal?

I'm undecided between the two because each has things I like and neither has everything I want, though its just picky little things. I am also curious why when I configure the lappys (7212 and N series, respectively) as close as I can to each other Mythlogic ends up being a couple hundred cheaper. Maybe its because of the free color calibration, thermal paste upgrade for free, etc? IDK!

Granted I wont be pulling the trigger until sometime in September, but I want to know exactly what I'm getting when the time comes! I'm sure it will be here fast!

For discounts you should contact the resellers directly.. September is a long ways off though so discounts/promotions will probably be different. That's around the time I'll be purchasing as well. I'm hoping they'll have some kind of back to school specials going on around then ;)

I believe you have to have 5 posts here in order to become a member, as for the discount, I heard from a Malibal rep that the free shipping counts as the discount... so I'm not sure there is actually an additional NBR discount in conjunction to that.

Your'e actually a member already! Once you're register and get a screen name that makes you one. The 5 posts is so you can send PM's or update your signature. Depending on the reseller you're looking at they might require a certain amount of post before you can get the discount while other dont require any at all. Ask your reseller what their policy is.

I'm intrigued by the NBR discounts as well. My account is completely backwards though, apparently I joined in February 2010 and just now made my first post. Now I'm curious as to why I joined back then....

Yes they do give discounts. It depends on how long you are a member of NBR and your number of posts i guess.. i got one from them. :)

We are the company who originally started the Exclusive Deals for NBR Members, which was meant to be a way to give back to people who have contributed to the community. However, some people began to abuse this offer by signing up just to get the discount, so we had to modify our terms in order to state that the discount only applies to "active" members of the forum.

Since making these changes, we have now changed our Exclusive NBR Deal from a flat discount to a progressive discount, so that the more someone contributes to the community, the more they will earn in the form of discounts. Note: This only applies to our company.

P.S. The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. :)

What are the details for the progressive discount? I'm planning on purchasing a laptop in the next few months and am curious about that.

Could you elaborate more how the progressive discount works? The reason I became a NBR member was to get more info about laptops, which means I might not currently be considered as an active member based on posts and rep of my account. But, that doesn't mean I won't be an active member after getting a Sager laptop.

We dont require you to be "active" as long as you have an account set up where you have made a screen name for the forums thats all we require. I see by your sig you had a NP5165. When those were available only the NP8130/8150/8170/7290 qualified for the discount, the NP5165 didn't. With these new models we did extend it to all Sager models.
