I've recently bought a BTO 17CL58 (W370ST) and I'm very happy with it!

However, I can't seem to find out how I can connect my Creative Cambridge 4.1 speakerset to this laptop. Currently I only have the front speakers (3.5mm jack) connected to the headphone but is it possible to also connect the rear (3.5mm jack) to another port and setup the computer to this 4.1 set?

    hi
same as last years model it wasnt posted in the user manual.
my 5.1 is set up like
    headphones - front 2 speakers
mic in/ speaker out - sub and centre speakers
    spdif/speaker out - rear speakers

when you plug in a speaker to mic or spdif a popup box will give you the option of speaker out.

no idea if it will work on your model though so feedback would be appreciated if it works or not.

Thanks! I tried that a few days ago but there was no popup and I couldn't find any settings in the sounblaster tool to configure this.

I used all the original drivers supplied on DVD with the laptop (most recent drivers)

Maybe there is another solution or did I miss something?

I don't think it supports jack switching so it can't do it. Usually it lists in the specs if you can use multiple jacks to support more speakers.

The EM series manual has specific instructions on how to do it while the W370ST manual makes no mention of such a feature.

Hmmm... you are correct: I've read the usermanual for the W370ST three times now but it doesn't mention anything about connecting 5.1 or 7.1 speakers although it does say the W370ST has a 7.1 soundcard. How in earth do you connect a 4.1 , 5.1 or 7.1 speakerset?

It might have to be through the SPDIF.

I hope you guys can help me out; I kept trying and searching but can't find any way to connect a 4.1, 5.1 or 7.1 set to my W370ST. I am even willing to give up the speaker-sets and use a 5.1 headphone but even then I can't find a way to connect and use it.

What am I missing? Is there anything I have to buy to connect it to SPDIF or something?

the only other option is to buy an external sound card like x-fi from creative.
at work now so cant link to them.
