Reseller as in - xotic pc, mythological, malibal etc.

So i recently bought a "new" Sager Np8150( i7 2760qm, 8gb ram, matte 95% color gamut screen, 6990m, 500gb 7200 rmp seagate hdd, and blueray drive) for $720 from a chinese guy on craiglist. The laptop itself looks great(no scratches at all everything looks pretty much new), i've check the insides and everything seems fine. My benchmarks for the gpu/cpu are sumilar to those found on notebookcheck. Have had no problems at all so far. I'm just curious as to who the reseller is to see if it has any warranty(probably not). The chinese guy couldn't really speak english all that well so he couldn't really tell me who it was. When the laptop starts up you see the Sager logo. I also got the serial number if that helps. Anything else i can do to find out who the reseller is?

If it's a Sager, the warranty is tied to the Serial, so you'd be able to call them up directly and ask what they have on record for it. They'd be the ones fixing it in the the end either way, so you're essentially cutting the reseller out of the picture this route but without that info given to you it's going to be hard to figure out.

If it says "Sager" on the start up and/or has a "Sager" logo on the back of the LCD screen you can rule out Mythlogic and Malibal and any others that arent "Sager" resellers. Thats still leaves a few places to consider though.

There's no logo at all on the back of the LCD Screen.

Yeah you can remove that as one of the options during customization from the resellers. Reseller won't really matter though as you can get warranty support directly through Sager.

    No love for ProStar? :p

If it's a Sager, as Derek pointed out, you can go through them directly. Often enough, the warranty is from them even when purchasing from a Sager reseller anyway. When we sell MSI or Asus notebooks, for example, the warranty is through them, since they are the OEM.
