I have a Sager NP 9380 and love it but one thing that annoys me is that, sometimes when I plug the computer back in, the FPS does not go back up to normal levels, but stays at the lowered fps on battery, even though the computer is plugged in. A reboot resolves it but that is annoying. Is there some way to fix this without rebooting? This is especially annoying when using the laptop on a couch and the plug comes out frequently... I am using Crossfire ATI 8970ms if that makes a difference.

Have you tied alt tabbing out or pausing the game and resuming? This usually fixes the throttling for me on Aw machines.

Well I think it makes a difference, because that stuff doesn't happen on 780Ms. I've lost power often mid-game and had my games slow down, and when power came back I was simply able to re-launch (or if it happened fast enough, stay in the game) and the frames went right back up to normal.

We haven't heard of this, but then we didn't see a lot of demand for the 8970M, let alone in CrossFire. Do you happen to see the same problem when running off of a single card?

A work around may be to have the power options to high performance for both plugged in and battery. That may stop it from dropping performance at all.

I do this with the Hotkey app. If I'm in-game, I can alt-tab out, open up Hotkey, and switch from Entertainment to High Performance and usually that fixes the problem without having to reboot. If you use something like Power-Saving or something, it might disable Wifi and disconnect you from your game.

(Like, you're in-game, notice you a having issues, then alt-tab, switch the power plan in Hotkey to Entertainment then switch it back to High Performance, then go back to your game).

Sometimes, however, if I'm running NvidiaInspector or anything that polls GPU temperature or load, my GPU will like stop responding? Then for some reason all my games load with the HD4000. For that, I have to reboot, but that's really rare if I just make sure to close things when I'm done.
