Hey, I tried out your method. It definitely improves the sound. However, why stop the crossover frequency at 200hz? take it all the way to 1000hz and you will get almost the same experience as any regular built-in sound card. The whole problem was due to the bass not being output through the proper channels. With the crossover frequency set to 1000hz, pretty much all bass is output through the headphone speakers.
I was actually contemplating getting a USB soundcard. However, after setting it to 1000hz, I no longer feel the need to.
EDIT: also, I don't see why people are complaining about maximum volume. I personally had no issue with max volume before or after the fix. I cannot set it beyond 35% on my headphones as anything beyond that sounds too loud to me =)

When I was testing that out, I heard the most bass in the 80hz-200hz range. 1000hz definitely sounded weird to me.
About the volume topic. I have the Sennheiser HD 200 headphones, which are pretty hard to get good volume out of compared to lower impedance headphones. I am guessing you use in ear headphones, which would only need 35% as you said. I just dislike using in ears with computers, as I enjoy the comfort of my HD 200s for extended periods. -

Can someone please link me to the latest THX driver software?
Mine suddenly stopped working/responding. The only hardware change I made was installing the latest Intel drivers.
I know THX is the best, but now that it's gone. I realize just how much it adds to my laptop sound. -

I just bought a 2.1 sound system for my P150EM...since it plugs in through the headphone jack, am I missing out on some of the quality? Should I uninstall THX and go with Realtek, or do these settings that are being discussed only apply to headphones?
