I've already set the power life and power options to performance but the highest i can get is 2.7 ghz based on the intel turbo boost monitoring tool. I run super PI and hyper PI already both with the same results.

i think this has something to do with the actual usage of cores, 4 cores = 2.6 ghz? 2 cores 2.7 ghz? 1 core = 2.9 ghz?

hmm try disabling cores in the settings and tell us how that works.

    My 2820 (2.3) goes to almost 3.1

This is probably about right. While it is listed that it should be able to go higher I think thats for when its going to turbo just 1 single core out of the bunch if its a single threaded app.

They allow the one thread to go higher because it can handle more heat as only 1 would be so high, but when they all are turbo they can make a lot more heat and thus limit it more.

So in the end its all heat based.

Mine hits the 3.1 and will stay at it for some time if something is demanding it from what I have watched.

My P170HMx with a Intel 2720QM does around 2.6 GHz when it turboboosts all the cores after my IC Diamond repaste.
With stock paste it dident do 2.6 GHz stable and would go back to 2.5 GHz.

But in real usage i dont think it turbo boosts as much, since its pretty speedy at stock clocks too. ;)

Okay, so i just tested mine with SuperPi and full battery charge and ac power on.

Mines a 2720QM. I'm getting to 3.2 for a short while running super pi. But it holds steady at 3.0 most of the time.

Is this right? I'm using Intel's turbo boost monitor for this, but it doesnt show the boosting of the 4 separate cores. How i do i see the core speeds separately?

Edit: I have never done a special pasting job. Its what sager put in but i opted for the IC diamond pasting.
