Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how can I tell the difference between a Sager 9260 and 9261? Are there any giveaway markings on the laptop or anything I can check in BIOS or Windows? I don't mind having to open it up if I have to.. basically I want to know if the machine will support a quad core cpu..

You can go into the bios when booting up and set it to diagnostic mode and restart it. On boot up it should tell you what bios version you have anything above 1.00.07 will support quadcore, but you should really go for the 9262 since it supports the 8800m-9800m gtx graphics cards, or so Sager says you need the 9262 for them.

or you can look at the motherboard version by looking at the sticker on the RAM slots... which is where its usually placed.

When I run CPU-Z it says that I have revision D. Does anyone know which revision do not support quad-cores? I thought the first version had problems with quads cores on long term.

Thanks guys!
Here's what I found..
BIOS Revision: D900C 1.00.11S LSI
KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.00.03N
One of the stickers on the RAM slots has V5.0A, I'm guessing that's the motherboard revision?
So, the million dollar question... will it support a quad core?
bwhxeon.. I'm coveting a 9262, but I already have this system and the 7950 is fine for my gaming needs. I'm really after more CPU power right now. I'll definitely end up getting a 9262 (or it's successor) at some point though. -

Good news...V5.0A does support Q6600 or Q6700 Quad Core processors
-
One more question, will this BIOS version (1.00.11S) support the Q6700 or will it need a BIOS update?
Thanks for all of the help guys!! -
It does support the q6700.
you should get a q6600 and pin mod it so you can have a 3ghz quadcore.
