Does the fingerprint sensor on the Sager NP2096 require a driver or do I just have to install a software package?

You could also try going to the Device Manager, and under Biometric Devices, right click on the fingerprint reader and select Update Driver Software and let windows automatically search for the latest version. The success of this method also depends on what version of Windows you are running, but its worth a try...
