    Hi I've got a Clevo P955EP6 with a Clevo GTX1060.
While gaming the temps are around the mid 70's running @ 1898 mhz.
I wonder if I can squeeze some more performance out of it by unlocking the powerlimit.
I've managed to extract the bios of my unit with GPU-Z but which steps should I take to unlock it?
And how does the powerlimit work? Is it a hardware limitation or am I fine with a larger power brick?
I've got a 180w adapter instead of the standard 150w.

Usually it's not the core temperature limiting the chips but the capabilities of the VRM which is tuned to the TDP.

Which means you need a programmer to the best of my knowledge.

Cant be flashed any other way.

What you need is all in this thread

You want to extract the full read of the vbios chip using the programmer then edit that before writing it back.

Look for someone who's tried it on your model. TDP mods on soldered GPUs seem a bit hit and miss (unlike the MXM boards)

Consider the low hanging fruit first - undervolting/voltage capping - they may unlock an extra 100mhz or more. Less voltage means less power consumption which turboboost algorithm will turn into higher boosted clocks. Boost is an automatic self-overclock that allows the GPU to clocks as high as it will go without breaking the power limit.

30W is probably as much as you'd want to go before the returns get exceedingly small for the extra power. Adding 30W over default when you have a powerbrick 30W over default will not be an issue. AS Meaker said the VRMs on the motherboard being able to safely deliver an extra 30W to the GPU without overheating is the question.

30w is a large percentage over stock.
