    I have Sager 9170 with 7970 card.

    I don't understand...How should I verify that 7970 card is properly installed?

I want to make sure that 7970 card is working and not integrated one...

    Thanks

if you can install gpu drivers and if you have the card listed under hardware management then its working.
Also right click on desktop and check if you got CCC installed and working properly.

    TechPowerUp GPU-Z doesn't even start.

In Device manager, I see Intel 4000 and 7970; but no idea which one works or not

If there is no exclamation mark next to the 7970M there then it's working. Just run 3D mark 2011 and if you're anywhere near 5500+ then you know for sure that's not the integrated GFX. Also, try MSi Kombustor, the new one should give you for example 114FPS average for DX 11 burn in test.

Actually the only proven way is to do the following: PM me and I will give you the address to send it to for comprehensive testing. I will be able to tell you exactly how it is working. It might take me some time to make sure it is working properly. So be patient. Be very, very patient. It could take a very long time to test it properly. Unfortunately it could be a counterfeit card, in which case I will have to confiscate it ( I work for the Counterfeit Card Checkers of America, local 134). So you know you can trust me.

Seriously, it looks like it is working, but when newer drivers come out, I think you will see much better performance. now have fun with that bad boy.

Iirc from 5700 to 5800 it's perfect for stock 7970m performance.
You have to worry when it gets below 5500, then there's a problem.
I'm happy that you used my guide, that's the first step to get things rolling.
You may want to try the ThrottleStop guide; check Gaming section, thread title is "7970 minor problem".
Stick to what I wrote there and check if you see an improvement.
