I am interested in getting a clevo/sager, due to hearing good things about them.

I would like to know how easy the components are to upgrade (RAM,HDD,GPU" IMPORTANT")

Also, I would like to know about any specific things regarding the GPU. Am I able to purchase a new GPU from any stie and put it in, provided it's compatible? Or do I have to order directly from sager or something?

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

Clevo's are usually the easiest to upgrade next to Alienware. So, yes the ram, hdd, and gpu will be upgradeable provided it is compatible. The gpu's can be bought from certain resellers or people and will work as long as its compatible i.e. correct slot, and bios support.

    ^^ True. Also, there's a company making newer GPU's backward-compatible with older notebooks (especially Clevo's/Sager's). :)

    Upgrading's like cake.

It's a simple process of taking the heatsink out and placing the component back in then done (not adding the thermal pasting); these apply for the GPU and CPU. HDDs are pretty accessible as well as the RAMs along with the wireless modules, bluetooth modules, TV tuners, SIM modules etc.

And finally, yes you can purchase the GPU from any site, provided that it says its compatible and for that model.

Upgrading is relatively simple, either through yourself, a techie friend, or a reseller. Just make sure the model you get and the part you might upgrade in the future is in fact upgradeable.

Regarding GPU upgradeability Clevo will provide you a better path than other manufacturers.
However, you may never do it for various reasons: newer GPU generations may have higher TDP requirements, different mechanical slot, different electrical specification, special GPU heatsink, BIOS incompatibility or even price worthiness.
Do not expect to upgrade GPUs that will appear in 2 years from now.

I was kinda hoping to replace 460m sli with 7970 crosffire. Dont tell me that wont be possibile, because i know it will.

I think at least one more generation from 7970, series 8000 from amd and series 600 from nvidia, will also work in the x7200.

The only downside is that by then the kind of performacne my cpu gives me within 130w, will be available with only 30 watts of power uasge.

    No worries however.
I plan to keep my laptop throught world war 3, thank you very much.
